Huber’s Hiccups
News for the City of Good
Neighbors from an Old Guy
named Norb Huber
I can not talk about politics,
no virus talk, no baseball to talk
about, no Dodgers to get mad
about, we all know about protests
and riots, so what in the heck
am I suppose to talk about? If I
say the wrong thing, I may get
fired from this volunteer position.
But, what is the right thing to say? Our
mothers used to always tell us that “if
you can’t say nothing nice, then you keep
quiet”. Now a days, our silence on an issue
can be taken as nonsupport or disapproval.
Whatever I say or do, more than likely I’m
going to offend someone. If I talk to myself,
I’m probably arguing with my conscience
that is telling me that I’m wrong once
again. So, this week, I will try to do my
best not to write anything about anything.
I won’t tell you that God loves you more
than you know. I won’t say, just relax and
have a cold one. I won’t tell you to be
positive about things and be safe. I won’t
share a comforting scripture like Philippians
4:6-7 that says, “do not be anxious about
anything, but in everything by prayer and
supplication with thanksgiving let your requests
be made known to God. And the peace
of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and your
minds in Christ Jesus”. I won’t
even attempt to look at things
on the news and twist them into
something meaningful. I won’t
attempt to write something stupid
and get you to fake a smile or
laugh. I do not want to offend your
intelligence. I will not tell you to
act stupid like me. The bottom
line is this: if I don’t share any
of my views, thoughts, or stabs
at wisdom, then maybe I should just shut it
down, call it quits, put my mask on and ride
off into the lockdown. If I did call it off,
my 30 loyal readers would have to hang for
themselves. You folks have heard me loud and
clear. Some of you must be hard of hearing
since you tell me to keep on writing. All
of us have our problems, we all have our
ways of dealing with life. We all have our
views and thoughts. That makes us human,
we are alive. God has created us all unique,
with our own thoughts, views and values.
The question needs to be asked, will we be
able to freely express our views in the future
and not be anxious about how it’s being perceived
and will we be safe from persecution
or bodily harm if people disagree with us?
Free and open discussion is the bedrock of
America. I will continue to write and act
stupid as long as I can. Sorry, if my views
