Local Business Owners Are Stepping Up
Mike Rotolo from front page
“Every project that was built by TG Construction
at the Aquarium has had Mike as the lead
and he was a great partner to us,” Qader said.”
In working with us, he was honest, responsive,
and showed attention to detail. It is also for
the same reason that when working on our
largest expansion to date---the Pacific Visions
wing---we asked Mike to be on our side of
the table and be the Owner’s Representative.”
Projects that TG has their construction stamp
on include sewage pump stations, hotels, retail
projects, hospitals, as well as institutional,
industrial, and mixed-use properties. TG has
worked for and with Disneyland and Boeing,
TRW Redondo Beach, Northrop Grumman,
K-Mart, and Chapman General Hospital, as
well as completing multiple projects in Hawaii,
including the Waipahu Town Center.
Rotolo attended St. Bernard High School,
received an Associate of Arts in construction
technology from Santa Monica City College,
and a Bachelor of Science from Cal State
University, Long Beach, garnering a degree
in construction technology.
Rotolo said that he was always interested in
construction-type endeavors at an early age,
noting his Boy Scout background. He moved
to Hawaii for a while, working on construction
projects. Once he returned to California, he toiled
for an Orange County firm for nearly a decade
before fortuitously landing a job with TG
Construction, greatly diminishing his commute.
One of the projects that Rotolo is most proud
of is the renovation of the Disneyland Autopia
attraction. “It was a really tough project, “he
said. It was during this timeframe that Rotolo
was diagnosed with sarcoma. The Autopia
project opened on-time, despite Rotolo’s health
challenges.
He said that TG likes to tackle more demanding
projects, including working with
the local aerospace industry. His company,
staffed by about 15 employees, espouses the
motto “quality, not quantity.” He embraces the
small-company vibe, saying that most of his
employees relish the benefits of working for
a smaller general contractor.
Rotolo lives in El Segundo with his wife, Mary.
When not overseeing the day-to-day details
of running his business, he likes to play volleyball,
fish, ski, camp, and give back to the community
by volunteering for numerous posts, including
past stints coaching AYSO soccer and mentoring
local Scouts. He said that he “tries to stay
connected” to the citizens in his hometown.
In this time of grave uncertainty, Rotolo said
that the current climate is “certainly challenging,
but we are blessed to still be working. We
are taking steps to be ready,” he said when the
effects of the virus diminish.” Our job sites are
up-and-running,” he said, with measures In
place to protect his workers. “We see ourselves
as vital to growing the economy.”
Rotolo is justifiably proud of TG Construction.
“For a smaller company, we have filled
some big boots…my employees are happy and
proud of their achievements, which makes for
a good working environment.” •
Huber’s Hiccups from page 3
and care for them and take them groceries
or just simply check to see if they are okay,
we are sharing that love that Jesus showed
to us by the giving of himself. Yes, we pray
for deliverance, we pray that our exile may
end soon, but we keep our eyes focused on
Jesus and celebrate his victorious resurrection
this Easter Sunday. Just think, Israel was in
slavery for 400 years and they wondered in
the wilderness for another 40 years. Noah
and his three sons had to sit inside the ark
with their wives for 40 days and 40 nights
listening to the rain without any cell phones
or internet. If you think it’s bad staying home
with your old lady for a few weeks, think
how bad it could be. It’s all in God’s hands,
it’s all in His time.
A Light At the End of the
Roller Coaster Ride
It’s been years since I have ridden a
roller coaster but I remember always being
happy when it ended and I could finally
step out of that car and on to solid ground.
The last month has been a roller coaster
ride. Every day I keep looking for some
hopeful news. I always feel like someone
or some group will come up with some
solution to solve this darn problem. For all
of our technology, for all of our smarts, for
all of our ingenuity, this thing seems to be
a little more of a challenge for us to figure
out. For most of us, this ride is getting
long and old. We just want to get off and
onto solid ground. I used to hate it when
the cars would be climbing and climbing and
clanging to get to the top because I knew
what was going to happen at the peak, we
were going to go careening back down and
around and upside down. I felt so out of
control and my stomach would be ready to
explode. That’s about how we feel right
now. Life is out of our control. I have long
since stopped riding roller coasters. Yes,
I’m a wimp. But, maybe we all should
just stop riding these emotional day roller
coasters. Listen to the news, be informed,
but be level headed. Have faith that once
the economy opens back up that there will
be jobs waiting for people. Your once hated
job might turn into a new, more rewarding
job. Who knows? I believe that our country
and economy will be strong once we get
back to work. I know it’s easy for me to
say “stay strong”. It’s always easy for me
to say, “relax and have a cold one”, but
considering the alternatives, I really don’t
have too much else to offer you. Put your
trust in God, have a cold one, and may the
big, bad Easter bunny bounce into your life
this week and fill you with happiness, joy
and all the candy that you can get delivered
before all the hoarders buy it all and put it
in storage for next Easter. Happy Easter to
my loyal readers, friends and fellow exiles.
