More Scam E-Mails
Reported in El Segundo
There seems to be an increase in the
number of scam e-mails circulating around
and here are some samples of fraudulent
messages received in El Segundo. The sender
will try and get you to open an attachment
or click on a link. If you do this, you will
likely infect your computer with malware
and compromise your personal information
and/or equipment.
To educate the community against these
types of crimes, the El Segundo Public Library
and Police Department will provide free scam
prevention training on Aug. 15 from 2-3 p.m.
The training will be at the El Segundo Public
Library at 111 West Mariposa Ave, inside of
the Community Room. ESPD officers will
be on hand to provide information on how
to protect yourself and answer any questions
you may have.
If you have questions about the presentation,
please contact Crime Prevention Analyst Amy
McDaniel at (310) 524-2274 or amcdaniel@
elsegundo.org.

Last Saturday, El Segundo Fire Department
personnel conducted confined space entry training
by simulating rescuing a victim 40 feet below
ground in an underground flood reservoir. It’s one
of the many aspects of USAR (Urban Search
and Rescue) that our firefighters are ready to
be dispatched to 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

that garnered both fan and critical acclaim.
The gates open at 4 p.m. and the movie
starts at dusk. Food and beverage booths
will have for sale beer, wine, tacos, pizza,
hamburgers, hot dogs, popcorn and more.
Other fun festivities will include live entertainment,
train rides, a moon bounce and
face painting. Admission for the event is
just $5 (kids two and under are free). Be
sure to bring blankets and beach chairs (no
high-backs). No pets, outside alcohol or
drop-offs at the park are allowed. Parking
