Abusing Motherhood to Push
Dangerous Gun Control Laws
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD)
was successful because they campaigned
and lobbied for laws to target, restrict, and
punish only drunk drivers, not safe and legal
drivers. MADD did not misuse their status as
“mothers”, call themselves “Anytown for Car
Safety”, and campaign for laws to restrict car
ownership or use by the overwhelming majority
of drivers who are safe and law-abiding.
Yet that absurdity is exactly what New
York City billionaire Michael Bloomberg did
when he created “Anytown for Gun Safety”
by merging the “Moms Demand Action
for Gun Sense in America” and “Mayors
Against Illegal Guns” anti-gun campaign
organizations. Anytown is a fake “safety”
organization that campaigns and lobbies for
dangerous counter-productive “gun control”
laws that violate our right to self-defense
and to own and use firearms, the safest and
most effective means of protection from
criminals. The only “safety” it may provide
is for robbers, rapists, and murderers preying
on unarmed victims.
The anti-self-defense “liberal” politicians
and campaign and lobby groups claim they
are for “reasonable”, “common-sense” gun
control laws. Yet their laws are unreasonable
and nonsensical because: 1) They violate selfdefense
and property rights; 2) They target,
restrict, punish, and endanger law-abiding
men and women in addition to, and in some
cases instead of, criminals; 3) They are often
dangerously counter-productive, and at best
ineffective; 4) Their monetary and societal
costs far outweigh any possible benefits.
I vote to defend the Second Amendment.

99th Percentile Not Enough?
I used to use the ES Herald as my go-to
source for information, but not much anymore.
I follow HS Girls and Boys sports pretty
intently, and attend the local events as much
as possible, in fact, change my schedules to
make games.
When I read Thursday 17 May “Eagles win
Ocean League Title,” I was excited because
I knew CIF was around the corner...
Jumping to the end of Gregg McMullin’s
article (he’s a sound author that I’d rate 99th
percentile), it stated for the Girls Softball
squad: “The Eagles move on to host Katella
on Friday at 3:15 in the first round of the
CIF Southern Section division 5 playoffs.”
Only thing was, when I got off work at
Thursday, I drove by Stevenson Field to
check out the end of the Boys game only
to see a Girls team had finished on our
diamond; 0 visitors 13 Home was still on
the scoreboard, so my first thought was that
one of our league mates needed a field to
play on for whatever reason.
Bottom line: When I found out it was our
Eagles, I was pleased the Girls won (albeit
disappointed that the Boys lost a tough one
at the end), but then really disappointed that
I changed my calendar to attend Friday’s
supposedly scheduled home game. Not sure
if I’ll rely on the ES Herald much more.

Collusion?
Joanna Bowe, Julia Cohen, and Shannon
Crouch created the South Bay chapter of
“Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in
America”. It’s part of New York City billionaire
Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun fake
“gun safety” campaign organization, “Anytown
for Gun Safety”. Crouch is one of three
Anytown gun control campaign organizers
invited by Democrat Senator Diane Feinstein
to participate in a Democrat anti-gun panel.
It appears these community organizers
are in collusion with Feinstein to advance
the Democrat party’s insidious firearm ban
and confiscation agenda. Feinstein carried a
concealed handgun for her own protection,
but illegally and unconstitutionally banned
handguns in San Francisco, banned traditional
rifles and shotguns nationwide by falsely
labeling them as “assault weapons”, and
encouraged and motivated mass-shootings,
including school shootings, by making the
mass-murderers famous in her campaign to
ban firearms.
In 1982, Mayor Feinstein proposed and
signed into law an ordinance banning possession
of all handguns by ordinary law-abiding
citizens in San Francisco, in violation of both
the Second Amendment and the California
state preemption law. Under the preemption
law, the state government occupies the field
of firearm regulation, to provide uniform
gun laws to prevent abuses and entrapment
by local governments. Feinstein’s handgun
ban lasted only three months before it was
overturned by the courts.
In an interview on National Public Radio,
Dianne Feinstein was asked about being unable
to exploit the Sandy Hook school mass-murder
to enact new gun ban legislation. Feinstein
responded, in a hopeful voice, there could
be another school shooting.

Scam Letter Circulated
Demanding Payment Via Bitcoin
At least two different residents have received
identical scam letters from what appear to be
the same source demanding money or else
a “secret” will be exposed. The recipient is
instructed to pay exactly $8,800 via Bitcoin
and are provided instructions on how to make
payment. You can view samples of the actual
scam letter and instructions that were received
by a resident on the El Segundo Police Department
Facebook page May 18 post.
If you receive this letter please do not fall
for the scam. Do not pay anything. This appears
to be a scam letter being sent out to
multiple people and the crook undoubtedly
hopes someone falls for it.
If you receive this letter and would like
to speak with the ESPD about it, please call
(310) 524-2760 and an officer will come by
and talk with you.

Purse Snatchers
Apprehended by ESPD
On May 13 at 3:51 p.m., officers arrested
two individuals who are suspected of being
involved with the theft of a purse from an
89-year-old woman. The frail woman was
loading groceries into her car while parked
in the 700 block of S. Sepulveda Boulevard.
The woman’s purse was in her shopping
cart and two suspects in a car drove up
next to her. One of the suspects leaned out
of the window and grabbed the purse from
the shopping cart. Officers found the two
men leaving the scene and stopped them to
investigate. The woman’s stolen property
was found in the car.
Roderick Piggee (30 years old from
Compton) and Kevin Alexander (23 years
old from Riverside) were both arrested on
the suspicion of possessing stolen property.
The car they were in was a 2015 black Nissan
4-door Altima that had paper plates with
the words “Hawthorne Auto Square” on it. It
appears the two men were purposely driving
through parking lots targeting women who
leave their purse in the cart while unloading
their items.
Anyone with additional information on
this crime is asked to contact Sergeant Aaron
Corkins at (310) 524-2271 or acorkins@
elsegundo.org (Case#: 18-1301).
