Obituaries
Suzette Josephine Keyser
Suzette Josephine Keyser, age 76, of
Jacksonville passed away Sunday, March 1,
2020 at her home. She was born July 23,
1943 in Spokane, Washington to the late
Timothy Joseph and Betty Piper Bourell.
Suzette worked for the Department of Housing
and Urban Development. She was known
as being the longest CASA service advocate
for 18 years. She enjoyed knitting, bowling,
golfing, playing bunko, and listening to
audio books.
Survivors include her children, Joseph L.
(Glenda) Keyser and Judith A. (Frank)
Gautier; and siblings, Christine (Gary)
Brugman and Timi Anne (Jeff) Bourell. She
is also survived by six grandchildren and
three great–grandchildren.
Memorial services are 6:00 p.m., Friday,
March 6, 2020 at Moore’s Jacksonville Funeral
Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be

transported to UCLA Harbor for a 72 hour

Tuesday, February 25th
A burglary (commercial) report was taken
at 1638 hours from the 2200 block of East
Park Place. Unknown suspect(s) stole the
victim’s credit cards and made unauthorized
purchases.
A grand theft report was taken at
1702 hours from the 400 block of North
Pacific Coast Highway. Unknown suspect(s)
stole a catalytic converter from the
victim’s vehicle.
One male adult was arrested at 2337
hours from Imperial Highway and Pacific
Coast Highway for driving without
a license, two outstanding misdemeanor
warrants out of RBPD, one outstanding
misdemeanor warrant out of LASD and
one outstanding misdemeanor warrant out
of TPD.
One male adult was arrested at 2345 hours
from Imperial Highway and Pacific Coast
Highway for two outstanding misdemeanor
warrants out of IPD.
Wednesday, February 26th
One male adult was arrested at 0538 hours
from Rosecrans Avenue and Douglas Street
for suspicion of receiving stolen property.
A grand theft report was taken at 0900
hours from the 100 block of Whiting Street.
Taken was a catalytic converter from the
victim’s vehicle.
A grand theft report was taken at 1340
hours from the 100 block of Nevada Street.
Unknown suspect(s) took money from the
business’ bank account
A burglary report was taken at 1408 hours
from the 2200 block of East Park Place.
Unknown suspect(s) fraudulently used the
victim’s credit card.
A female adult was arrested at 1943 hours
from the 700 block of South Pacific Coast
Highway for plain drunk in public.
Thursday, February 27th
One male adult was arrested at 0555
hours from the 1400 block of East Imperial
Avenue for possession of controlled substance,
possession of drug paraphernalia, and one
outstanding Inglewood PD misdemeanor
warrant.
A burglary and identity theft report was
taken at 1140 hours from the 2200 block of
East Park Place. Unknown suspect(s) broke
in the victim’s locker, took victim’s credit
card, and fraudulently used the credit card
to purchase merchandise.

Friday, February 28th
A criminal threats report was taken at 1002
hours from the 600 block of Vista Del Mar.
The suspect threatened the victim.
A criminal threats report was taken at 1113
hours from the 200 block of Coral Circle. A
known suspect threatened the victim.
A found property report was taken at 1214
hours from the 2200 block of East Maple
Avenue. A gray backpack was found and
booked for safe keeping.

hours from the 2000 block of East Mariposa
Avenue. A gun was found and booked for
safe keeping
One male adult was arrested at 1456 hours
from the 900 block of East Grand Avenue
for plain drunk in public.
One female adult was detained at 1947
hours from the 700 block of West Imperial
Avenue and transported to Marina Del Rey
Hospital for a 72 hour psychiatric evaluation.
An injury report was taken at 2000 hours
from the 1600 block of East Mariposa Avenue.
A female adult fell in the street.
A grand theft report was taken at 0412
hours from the 200 block of Coral Circle.
Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s catalytic
converter from his vehicle.
Saturday, February 29th
A burglary (commercial) report was taken
at 0909 hours from the 700 block of South
Pacific Coast Highway. Two suspects broke
into the business and stole merchandise.
A vandalism report was taken at 1510
hours from the 200 block of Coral Circle.
Unknown suspect(s) damaged the victim’s
vehicle.
A missing person report was taken at 1648
hours from the 1400 block of East Mariposa
Avenue. A male adult was reported missing.
Sunday, March 1st
A found property report was taken at 1228
hours from the 400 block of Main Street. A
brown bag containing an IPhone and personal
property was found.
A grand theft report was taken at 1428
hours from the 900 block of Dune Street.
Unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s catalytic
converter from his vehicle.
An attempt grand theft report was
taken at 2112 hours from the 600 block of
Arena Street. Two suspect(s) attempted to
steal the victim’s catalytic converter from
his truck.
An online petty theft report was taken at
0454 hours from the 900 block of East Grand
Avenue. Unknown suspect(s) stole a package
from the victim’s mail box. •

Richmond Street School
Principal Honored
El Segundo’s Richmond Street School
Principal Alice Lee was recently honored
as Elementary School Principal of the Year
(Region 14) by the Association of California
School Administrators (ACSA).
In her nomination for the award, Dr. Lee
was commended by her colleagues, district
administrators, parents, and educational partners
for her exemplary leadership and vision. Her
innovative mindset has led to significant
achievements as an educational leader.
Dr. Lee promotes commitment to educational
quality and student achievement, as well
as a vision of learning that is shared and
supported by the school community through her
strategically developed and articulated vision
for Richmond Street School: “W.A.T.E.R.:
We Activate, Transform, and Empower at
Richmond.” She empowers and inspires
everyone at the school, transforms teaching
practices using evidence-based strategies, and
works to ensure all students grow into healthy,
life-long learners.
She is constantly exploring ways for
Richmond Street School’s faculty, staff
and administration to better serve students,
from applying for grants and lobbying for
educational partnerships to creating her own
series of professional development workshops
for Richmond Street teachers. Dr. Lee seeks
out partnerships at a local and national level
to expand opportunities for students and
staff. She has collaborated with Mattel, Inc.
on the Barbie Dream Gap Project to pilot
curriculum that builds self-efficacy in young
female students. She is also a presenter on a
national level for Scholastic, a partnership she
has leveraged to bring a Literacy Program,
professional development, and resources to
Richmond Street staff and students.
Chevron Matching up to $500,000
for Plunge Renovation
The Chevron El Segundo Refinery has
announced a matching grant program to
help the City raise the funds needed to
renovate the 80-year old Urho Saari Swim
Stadium, also known as “The Plunge”. Now
that the El Segundo Wiseburn Aquatics
Center is up and running and serving the
needs of the competitive aquatics groups,
the Plunge is slated for a renovation in the
next two to three years when the funds are
identified to ensure community aquatics
programming continues to be at the heart
of El Segundo.
