1968...Long hair was the style for men and the shag was the style for women...(and Men!) Men had one of two choices, barber shop or
beauty salon! Barber shops had about three styles that they could manage. Short, shorter or shortest and beauty salons were not a place
that a man felt very comfortable in.
So, a hairstylist, (cosmetologist) by the name of Richard Barile, created the Tonsorial Parlor. A shop designed for men. A rustic recreation
of an old western Tonsorial Parlor. (Barber Shop) Barn wood on the walls, beams of timber, old barber chairs and western mementos.
Framed photos of good guys and bad guys from the Old West, hanging on the walls.
A comfortable place where a guy could have a beer and play a game of pool, on an antique pool table, while he and his buddy got a great,
stylish haircut.
Styles have come and gone, since then, as well as the pool table, (but,
not the beer!) to make room for a couple more stations. The Parlor
has changed a little bit as well, over the years, to make welcome the
woman clients, too!
But it has kept it’s certain charming theme and feel of the “Ol West”
at the beach. We here at the parlor, like to think of it as a shop where
“a man still feels comfortable”, but that his whole family will too!
So, come on in and relax with a group of experienced stylists who
will not only make you look great, but feel great too! We have fun
and enjoy what we do and we do it better than just about anyone!
Just ask around...
