Sanctity of Life
Last week I wrote about pro-life
and abortion. Some refer to the
respect for life as the “sanctity of
life”. What does this phrase mean?
For Christians, human life is sacred
and is a gift from God which is
to be respected and protected. The Bible
teaches that human beings are created in the
image of God. It also teaches that murder is
forbidden. Another word for sanctity would
be sacred. It’s a holy act when we protect
and preserve all human lives. That implies
that we should keep old guys like me alive.
God knows when my time is up here on
earth. Even though some in my extended
family would like to “pull the plug” on me
and this rambling mess, I will continue to
live and type away until God calls me home.
The sanctity of marriage would be another
one of those biblical based truths that is being
questioned these days. Did God really
intend for marriage to between one man and
one woman? It really gets down to whether
we believe there are “absolute truths” that
are absolutely true all the time regardless
of the situation. God gave us choice. We
can do right or we can do wrong. Most of
our laws and our values are based upon the
Ten Commandments. Thou shalt not kill.
Thou shalt not commit adultery. We make
life choices every day based on our beliefs
and our values. Are we always going to do
the right thing all the time? No. That’s when
Jesus jumps in to save us. That’s why I can
say to you: be happy, have a cold one and
relax. Regardless of whether you
are a bible believing, Jesus freak
or not, most all of us want the best
for our families, our neighbors, our
communities, and for our country.
We want the murders, riots, abortions,
and hate talk to stop. We
believe that all lives count and are
precious. We want to be proud
Americans. It seems like we are
just all holding our breath waiting
until November 3rd or whenever an outcome
is finalized. There is one absolute truth that
will not change ever. God is in charge. God
loves you. God created you. God wants you
to live and to enjoy life. Loyal readers, live
your life with joy, relax, have a cold one, and
please don’t pull the plug on me.
Change the Name?
Here is an email from one of my loyal critics:
“Hiccups are spasms of the diaphragm
resulting in involuntary expelling of air from
the lungs. They are temporary, not enduring.
Hiccups are not desired nor wanted. They are
not normal. Consider changing your column
to something like hubris, but that is brash.
How about Huber’s Humor? That says it
all, for all chuckle and laugh at the drivel
that comes forth and are mostly amused and
entertained. “You are a buffoon” and we
need such in life.
Bottom line - do whatever brings attention,
for that is the purpose, whether the foolish
followers realize it or not. Otherwise, why
would this nonsense continue to spew forth
on a regular basis.” I could not have said
it any better. Deep down, I think this critic
really enjoys reading my junk every week.
