Obituaries
Walter G. Cottriel
Walter G. Cottriel, 91, resident
of Mt. Dora, FL, died in Hospice
care of natural causes on November
14, 2018. He was born
in Ventura, CA in 1927. At 17
Walt enlisted, and proudly served
in the US Navy during WWII.
Following this service, he earned
his Associate Degree at Ventura
College, where he met his future
wife Rita Schrader. They married
in 1949. Walt worked at Southern
California Edison for 33 years where he
was a Journeyman Lineman, a Line Truck
Foreman, and a Commercial Service Planner.
visiting with family. He will be missed. Walt
will be interred with full United States Naval
honors in a private family service. •

Thursday, Nov. 22
One male adult was arrested at 2022 hours
from the 300 block of Loma Vista Street for
two outstanding ESPD misdemeanor warrants.
A battery report was taken at 2324 hours
from the 200 block of East Maple Avenue,
male adult versus male adult.
Friday, Nov. 23
One lost or stolen license plate report was
taken at 0932 hours from the 700 block of
South Pacific Coast Highway. A rear license
plate was reported missing.
One lost or stolen license plate report was
taken at 0952 hours from the 100 block of
Arena Street. A rear license plate was reported
missing.
One found license plate report was taken at
1234 hours from the 700 block of South Pacific
Coast Highway. A license plate was found.
A petty theft report was taken at 1243
hours from the 500 block of North Pacific
Coast Highway. Unknown suspect(s) stole
two televisions.
A grand theft occurred between 11/21/18
Walt was preceded in death by
Rita Cottriel, and is survived by
their six children, eight grandchildren,
and five great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death
by his parents John and Lucy
Cottriel, his brother Calvin
Cottriel, and his second wife
Gerri Cottriel. Walt spent his
retirement years enjoying his
hobbies of photography, fishing,
cross-country motor homing and
and 11/23/18 in the 500 block of North Pacific
Coast Highway. Miscellaneous camera
equipment was taken from a storage unit.
An identity theft report was taken at 1440
hours from the 700 block of West Imperial
Avenue. An unknown suspect attempted to
open several credit card accounts using the
victim’s personal information.
An online petty theft report was taken at
1445 hours from 47th Street and Vista Del
Mar (bike path).
A burglary (commercial) report was taken
at 1310 hours from the 1900 block of Hughes
Way. Unknown suspect(s) stole property from
the victim’s storage unit.
Two female adults were arrested at 1716
hours from the 500 block of North Pacific
Coast Highway for conspiracy to commit
shoplifting. A male adult was also arrested
for conspiracy to commit shoplifting and one
LASD felony probation warrant.
A shoplifting report was taken at 1550 hours
from the 200 block of East Grand Avenue.
The suspects stole liquor from the store. •
