stray, but I prefer to think of myself as a
gal seeking the perfect home. I can’t blame
anyone for ignoring me when I was at the
shelter because I was a bit of a mess. I was
stinky, matted, emotionally overwhelmed and
so shy that I spent my time in a corner with
my head down. The MSFR folks took pity
on me and decided to take me home and try
to find my forever family. Although I had to
be shaved down to get rid of the matting, I
felt so much better after my makeover that
I started to bloom. That’s when everyone
discovered how very thin I was at only 11
pounds. My ideal weight is more like 13
pounds and I am working on adding those
few pounds of splendidness. Once I started
blooming, there was no stopping me! My
shyness is gone and I am a friendly, loving
little lady who adores being the center of
attention. While I get along with other dogs,
there’s no doubt I would prefer to be the

“Hello, my name is Coconut, but my
friends call me Coco. I’m a tiny, 2-year-old,
female Poodle mix, but I have no idea what
I’m mixed with. After taking a wrong turn
while out for a walk, I ended up at an LA
County shelter where I was rescued by some
great folks. The shelter people called me a
Fern
princess of the house. Please come see me
at our adoptions – I’d love to meet you.” If
you’re interested in Coco, please email info@

“Hi there, I’m Fern and I’m still waiting
to find my forever home. I so hope to spend
Christmas with my forever family. My sisters
Gabrielle and Hallie have both been adopted
and I just know that my family is out there
looking for me. I was only 5 months old
when we were all discarded by our owners
and given to an LA County shelter the week
before the 4th of July holiday. Considering
that my first life’s lesson was this huge rejection,
it made me a bit cautious…but I’ve
gained some confidence in the last couple of
months. I am extremely grateful to the folks
at MSFR for rescuing and helping me find
a family that will love me and appreciate
everything I can bring to their lives. Since
I’m still a pup, I only weigh 12 pounds --
but when I’m fully grown, I’ll weigh more
like 15-20 pounds. I will be the perfect size
to share your lap or accompany you on our
adventures. I obviously get along with other
dogs since I’ve always had my sisters to keep
me company and I would do best in a home
that has a doggie pal to keep me company. I
also have to have a secured yard with a 6-foot
solid fence, like wood or cinderblock. When
we were together, my sisters and I used to
keep ourselves entertained by climbing up
and over the x-pens and we became very
proficient climbers. Obviously, no chain link
fence for us! Everyone keeps telling me that
I’m stunning and that my coat is so soft and
shiny. I have a natural tail, which I call my
‘happy meter,’ that shows my enthusiasm
when I get excited. I also have natural ears,
soulful eyes and a personality that will melt
your heart.” If you’re interested in Fern, please
email info@msfr.org for more information. •

Congratulations to Zoey and her new family!
Congratulations to Zoey and her new family.
Zoey is the very sweet and petite 1-year-old
Poodle/mix who was rescued in September.
She and her new family were introduced a
couple of weeks ago and it was love at first
sight. She’ll be the perfect first dog for this
family – easygoing and a real people dog.
She joins three human sisters, ages 8, 11 and
13, who are going to fill her life with lots
of love and pampering. No doubt costumes,
cuddling and lots of attention are in her future.
She is going to be queen of her domain in
Manhattan Beach and no one deserves more.
Wishing you a lifetime of happiness! •
