on the streets. I finally ended up at an LA
County shelter the week before Labor Day
as a stray. I was a smelly, matted mess and
that’s probably why no one even considered
adopting me. Fortunately, I caught the attention
of the MSFR folks, who could see that
underneath it all there was a real treasure.
After a grooming, I certainly smelled better.
However, my beard and the rest of my
coat had to be shaved down because of all
the matting. The great news is that it will
grow back quickly and then once again I
will be a very handsome guy. A trip to the
veterinarian gave me a clean bill of health
and I’m ready to find my forever home. I’m
20 pounds of love and personality who just
needs some obedience training, which will
be a piece of cake because I’m also very
eager to please.”

“My name is Zoey -- which is of Greek
origin and means life -- and boy, what a life
I’ve had. I’m a 1-year-old Poodle/mix who
wandered away from home and ended up
at an LA County shelter as a stray. I have
to admit I didn’t look my best. However,
despite my appearance, I had two people
lined up to adopt me. Can you imagine the
humiliation when neither of them turned
up and I was left alone? If the MSFR folks
hadn’t seen me while picking up another
dog, who knows what my fate would have
been? After a bath and a trip to the MSFR
veterinarian, I’m on a mission to find a new
family and get on with my life. A family that
would adore a petite – 8 pounds soaking
wet – and lovely lady with a sparkly white
coat is my idea of perfection. While I can
tolerate other dogs if I must, I truly prefer
being an only dog and the center of your

“They call me Thomas and I think it a
great name for a friendly, 1-year old, male
Miniature Schnauzer/mix who looks more
‘Schnauzery’ than anything else. A few weeks
ago I thought I would expand my social
network, so I went for a stroll…but that
wasn’t the smartest move for an inexperienced
pup. I got lost and spent quite a bit of time
universe. I’m definitely a ‘people dog’ and
am perfectly content to shadow my foster
mom all day long. Happiness is being treated
like the princess that I am by my family.”

“Hi there, I’m Fern and I’m still waiting to
find my forever home. My sisters, Gabrielle
and Hallie, have already been adopted and I
know the best family is just out there looking
for me. I was only 5 months old when we
were discarded by our owners and given to
an LA County shelter the week before the
4th of July holiday. Considering that my first
life lesson was this huge rejection, it made
me a bit cautious. However, I’ve gained some
confidence in the last couple of months. I
am extremely grateful to the folks at MSFR
for rescuing and helping me find a family
that will love me and appreciate everything
I can bring to their lives. Since I’m still a
pup, I only weigh 12 pounds. When I’m fully
grown, I’ll weigh more like 15-20 pounds. I
will be the perfect size to share your lap or
accompany you on our adventures. I obviously
get along with other dogs since I’ve
always had my sisters to keep me company
and I would do best in a home that has
a doggie pal to keep me company. I also
have to have a secured yard with a 6-foot
solid fence, like wood or cinderblock. When
we were together, my sisters and I used to
keep ourselves entertained by climbing up
and over the x-pens and we became very
proficient climbers. Obviously, no chain link
fence for us! Everyone keeps telling me that
I’m stunning and that my coat is so soft and
shiny. I have a natural tail, which I call my
‘happy meter’…that shows my enthusiasm
when I get excited. I also have natural ears,
soulful eyes and a personality that will melt
your heart.”
