Not Happy With Taxes
We were taught in El Segundo High
School that citizens of the United States
live in a democracy. Just exactly what is
a “democracy” and how do you define it?
One has to seriously ponder this question as
our as our new El Segundo Mayor and City
Council - (read tax emperor and totalitarian
consigliores) impose a double “trash tax” on
residents and have the audacity and temerity
to flatly refuse to allow those, who have to
pay the tax - (the renters) - the democratic
right to vote on this hideous double tax.
Property owners pay property tax, which is
fully and completely has paid for our sewer
and trash service, that’s why we pay property
tax. The only true and honest reason for the
double sewer and trash tax is to re-supply
the “political slush fund” with more greenery
so the city can waste more taxpayer money
flying City Council Members to Florida to
play with their - (golf?) - balls, isn’t that right
Councilman Scot Nicol and Chris Pinmentel?
In the meantime a few of us honest, hard
working, or retired, tax paying citizens can
go without a few meals, so we can pay this
hideous double sewer and trash tax.

Agrees With Ron Parsons
Mr. R. Parsons’ December 27, El Segundo
Herald letter had two parts, I agree both
parts. Part 1 - Automated trash removal,
this is not practical all over town. I live
west of Main St., most of our streets are
very narrow and most people prefer to park
their many vehicles on the narrow streets,
garages being for storage. I have and am
over the many, many years been extremely
pleased with the personalized service of our
current trash haulers. Part 2- Mr. Parsons
had three “When will enough be enough?”
questions. It would be a very nice Christmas
present to the resident taxpayer who voted
you council members into office to answer
Mr. Parsons three “When will enough be
enough?” questions.

El Segundo Christmas Tree Recycling
During the three weeks following Christmas
Day, El Segundo residents with City-provided
trash service may place their holiday trees
curbside on regular collection days or drop off
at the Maintenance Facility at 150 Illinois St.
If you place your tree on your regular

picked up the same day unless there is an
overwhelming amount of trees to collect –
in which case, there may be a day or two
pick-up delay. Or if you place your tree after
7 a.m. on your regular collection day, pickup
could be delayed until your next regular
