Congratulations to Stella and her new family.
Frances
Congratulations to Alma, now named Stella,
and her new family. In April 2013 she was
adopted as a cute, friendly puppy from an LA
County shelter. Fast-forward 4.5 years and
she was returned to the same shelter, fearful,
timid and still unsprayed by her adopters.
Thankfully, MSFR rescued this adorable
gal -- and with some TLC, she has learned
to trust and is a delightful, affectionate gal.
Her new dad grew up with Schnauzers, but
she is the first one for her folks as a couple.
It was Stella’s calmness and sweet demeanor
that just won them over. Stella, who is quite
the poser (isn’t this a great picture?), is living
in Valencia and we wish them many years of
happiness. •

“I’m Frances and no, I’m not a Miniature
Schnauzer -- I’m not even a Miniature
Schnauzer mix. What I am is a 6-year
old, female Miniature Poodle and one of
the ‘Friends’ of Miniature Schnauzers and
Friends! The volunteers actually refer to
me as a ‘piggy back’ rescue from an LA
County shelter where I ended up as a stray.
I had an adopter and thought I had a home,
but sadly they cancelled. When the MSFR
folks heard what happened, they decided
We are looking for volunteers to help with
our pet adoption fairs which are held every
Saturday at the Petco located at 537 N.
Pacific Coast Hwy., Redondo Beach 90277,
from noon to 3: 30 p.m. If you are interested
in volunteering and can commit to at least
one Saturday a month, please contact us at
info@msfr.org. You can also visit all of our
Miniature Schnauzers & Friends rescues at
the adoption fair or check out our website,
www.msfr.org. If you have any questions
about a particular dog’s availability, you can
email us at info@msfr.org. Schnauzers! Bet
you can’t adopt just one.
“Hello. They call me Silas, which is of
Latin origin meaning ‘man of the forest.’ Is
it any wonder that while I was out trying
to find my roots in a forest, I got lost and
ended up at an LA County shelter? While
on my mission, I learned quite a bit for
a 3-year old Miniature Schnauzer mix. I
discovered that I like other dogs and get
along just great with them -- and they enjoy
my company as well. I also recognized that
small children under the age of 8 are not
good playmates for me. They make me a
bit nervous with all the quick movements
and loud noises. One thing for certain is
that for a tiny 11-pound guy, I have a big
personality and I’ve been told that I’m cute
as a button. Please come to our adoption fair
and see if you agree with everyone! Who
knows…I could be the perfect addition to
your family.”
If you’re interested in Silas, please email
to take me too when they rescued Silas.
A quick trip to their veterinarian resulted
in a dental and 12 teeth being extracted.
I’m feeling so much better and I’m back
to being super friendly and enjoying the
company of other dogs. I’m just a petite
little 10-pound gal looking for someone to
love me as much as I’m going to return that
love tenfold. I could be just the right dog
for you, so please stop by our adoptions
and ask for me.”

“Hi there! I am Billie, a 2-year old, male
Miniature Schnauzer mix who was homeless
and living on the streets of Tijuana. My
companion, Holiday -- who could possibly
be related to me -- and I decided to take a
trip with friends and ventured south of the
border for a weekend of fun. Unfortunately,
we missed our ride home and without any
place to stay ended up living on the street.
Holiday has quite a voice, so we made our
living as street entertainers until a rescue
group rounded us up and returned us to the
USA. They contacted the folks at MSFR,
who were kind enough to take us in and
are helping us find our forever homes. It’s
been decided that my mix could be Doxie
because I have a longer, trim, 14-pound body
with legs that are very sturdy but a bit short.
I’m still very playful and have retained my
puppyish charm that endears me to people
and other dogs. I guess that’s why I get
along well with everyone.”
