Don’t Worry. It’s Just a Holiday Reminder
from the Hawthorne Police Department.
If the Sarge isn’t writing a ticket, can you guess what it might be? During the holidays, we want to give everyone an extra reminder to hide any valuables if left in their vehicles by patrolling parked cars and leaving a Vehicle Crime Prevention Report Card. Items left in
plain sight could result in someone “borrowing” them without your permission. Take the extra moment to hide any treasures and double check your doors. Photos courtesy Hawthorne Police Department.

We NEED Christmas
Judging by the early start to
everything related to Christmas this
year, most Americans really want
something cheerful and bright to put
an end to this 2020 calendar. For
many of us in past years, Christmas
has been parties and decorating and food and
shopping and school programs and music and
all of that stuff. We all seemed to like the fun
things we did during Decembers past. This
year is different. This year we really could
use more that all of the fun and frolicking.
We all could use something we can hang
onto, something we can trust that is not going
to change. We could use some hope and
reassurance that there is a solid truth. That is
exactly what Christmas means. God sent his
Son into the world as a baby. That little baby
would become the Savior of the world. God
so loved the world that he sent his son to die
for us. Jesus saves us from sin and death. He
gives us new life, eternal life. That is the great
message, the great truth that is given to us.
That saving faith in a Savior born in a lonely
manger over 2000 years ago is what we can
hold onto in this ever changing world. God’s
love never fails. His love never changes with
a virus or an election or wildfires or civil
unrest. Yes, we can celebrate and have our
Christmas fun with social distancing, masks
and Zoom parties. But, more importantly we
can relax, have a cold one, and
know without a doubt that there
is someone who we can count on.
Since we have received the greatest
gift, we should share that love
with others. Give of your time and
energy to help a family member, an
elderly neighbor, a person in need.
We really do NEED Christmas this
year. We NEED the love that came
down to us in baby Jesus. Enjoy
the season friends and critics, one and all.
The Nativity Business
If you have been one of my loyal readers,
you know that me and my old lady have
owned Outdoor Nativity Store for the past
13 years. It has been a real joy to share my
joy of Christmas with so many Christians
around the world. This year’s sales have been
amazing. We were not prepared for so many
orders for our sets. We have been working
seven days a week in order to stay somewhat
up to meeting the demand. Again, it’s always
fun to talk to some of our customers and see
some of their displays via photos. The sales
prevented me from writing my rambling run
together rudimentary rash of ruminations last
week. I missed you all. I hope you all had
a wonderful Thanksgiving. Live life boldly
my friends, even if you are confined to your
homes. Love your spouse, even if you are
tired of having your old man around the
house. Until next time, have a cold one!
