player. He was a unanimous first-team All-
Ocean League Defensive team selection his
senior year. He was also voted his team’s
Most Versatile Player with his Special Teams
skills as a punt and kick returner; he was
also a receiver on offense.
Each of his baseball, football and basketball
coaches said essentially the same. Kyle could
be counted on to make a difference when the
game was on the line. Kyle says that more
than anything, “Playing sports has taught me
responsibility, teamwork, and integrity. Also,
to be successful, you have to work together
as a team.”
The hardest thing for any high school athlete
is when it’s all over and knowing they won’t be
playing competitively anymore. Kyle says he’ll
miss his teammates, coaches, the discipline of
being an athlete and the bonds of friendships
he’s made with so many. Those friendships
he’s made will last a lifetime, he says.
Besides being a standout athlete and student
Kyle Myers was the team’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Kyle is a talented singer, according to choir
teacher Gianna Summers. With his busy sports
schedule, he didn’t have the opportunity or
time to pursue his vocal talents.
Kyle is succinct when it comes to his goals
after high school. “I’d like to finish college
and have fun doing it.” He says he knows
the college environment will be a challenge,
and he’s ready to embrace the next chapter
of his life. He added that he’s hoping to be
successful and live comfortably after getting
his degree.
What will his classmates remember about
him at future reunions? He was a down-toearth,
nice, friendly, and funny guy who had
fun enjoying his life. •
