love and affection she deserves. Are you the
lucky chosen one(s) that will make her part
of your family?
Have you ever seen a cuter or more fabulous
pair of ‘fishy’ kitties as Mackeral and his
little sister Minnow? Big brother Mackeral
(on the right) is such a handsome boy! This
precious plucky pair were rescued from the
streets. While still a little on the shy side,
they are slowly coming around and learning
to love humans. Mackerel is well on his way
to becoming a total Romeo and lovebug, as he
is already digging head bumps and belly rubs.
Baby sister Minnow (on the left) is gorgeous
and will be melting a lot of hearts! Minnow
is a bit more cautious than her brother, but
she is becoming a little less shy every day.
Minnow looks up to her big brother, so we
know he is setting a good example for her.
We would love to find a loving home for
this bonded pair. They both just need a little
time, patience, and kindness to allow them
to complete their journey and fully blossom.
Are you the guardian angel to make their
dreams come true?
These cats and kittens are available for
adoption through Kitten Rescue, one of
the largest cat rescue groups in Southern
California. All our kitties are spayed/neutered,
microchipped, tested for FeLV and FIV,
dewormed and current on their vaccinations.
Temporarily, adoption events are suspended.
For additional information and to see these or
our other kittens and cats, please check our
website www.kittenrescue.org or email us at
mail@kittenrescue.org.
With our city and state shut down, we are faced
with the delicate balance to protect our fellow
humans from the spread of COVID-19, while
continuing our mission of saving the most vulnerable
victims of the homeless cat crisis. We
know that these are hard times for everyone.
If you can give a little, it will go a long way.
They are still counting on us during these difficult
times. Your tax-deductible donations for
the rescue and care of our cats and kittens can
be made through our website or by sending a
check payable to Kitten Rescue, 914 Westwood
Blvd. #583, Los Angeles, CA 90024. Saving
one animal won’t change the world, but the
world will surely change for that animal. •
Purrrfect Companions
A new year brings new beginnings. Bring
new joy into your home with a new feline
friend. If you are unable to adopt at this time,
consider fostering or donating to support the
foster program. Along with spay and neutering,
if just 2% of the pet-owning households
in America fostered one pet a year, we could
stop euthanizing healthy pets in shelters.
Gingerbread was rescued with his siblings,
Snickerdoodle and Shortbread, as three-weekold
bottle babies. Gingerbread loves other cats
more than anything, especially the big kitties in
his foster home. He can often be found curled
up with one of the resident cats, preferring to
hang out with them rather than romping around.
He is not a huge fan of being held and prefers
to come for attention when he wants it. He
loves to crawl around under the covers and
slither around, burrowing under blankets and
napping against your side. Gingerbread must
be adopted with another kitten, or to a home
with a resident kitty who will play with him
and let him cuddle with them. He loves the
two resident older adults in his foster home
and would do great with kitties of any age.
Newton is a beautiful, Flame Point Siamese
recently rescued from the frantic Koreatown
streets where he was living in a parking lot.
He seeks affection and attention once he feels
secure in his surroundings. When comfortable,
Newton enjoys settling onto your lap for neck
rubs and treats. He will roll upside down
and purr looking to get his belly scratched.
Newton loves playing with his toys, especially
wand toys, which he enjoys chasing and
catching. This shy, sensitive guy would best
thrive as a single cat in a quiet home with
a cat-experienced adopter who has a patient
understanding of Newton’s sweet, but complex
nature. His goal is to be adopted by someone
who can just love and dote on him.
Zeus is a sweet little boy who will lap up
all the love and affection you can offer and
will return it ten-fold with purrs and biscuits!
And all he will ask of you is time to adjust
slowly to his new family and home environment.
After his initial transition, he’ll explore
and get into all sorts of teenage kitty antics,
but will always make time to cuddle on the
couch with you. When Zeus is not running
around, napping, or eating, he loves to play
video games for cats on your iPad/tablet – you
could say he’s an avid gamer! Zeus would
love a home with another playful cat who he
can slowly get to know. If you do not have
another cat, he can be paired up with lots of
other adoptable kitties.
Sasha is a spunky little creature who loves
to have her back scratched once she gets to
know you. She is timid, but you can win her
over by spoiling her with endless treats. Sasha
loves to parade around and be admired. Her
gorgeous orange, black and white coat makes
her the center of attention. Although she is
thinking of competing in beauty pageants
where she can prance around and flaunt her
stuff, she would rather spend time with a
family that will dote on her and give her the

Happy New Beginnings for Maui and his new family.

Happy Tails
When Maui arrived at the Kitten Rescue
Sanctuary, he was a middle-aged cat, who had
survived on the streets of LA. The kind man
who had been feeding him was being displaced
from his group home and could not take Maui
with him. He feared for Maui’s welfare, so his
mother reached out to Kitten Rescue.
Maui was quite a mess when he arrived. He
tested positive for FIV, had a deformed leg
from an old injury, and asthma. Shortly after
arriving, he was hospitalized for a collapsed
lung, and we thought we might lose him. After
days of hospitalization, Maui pulled through.
Maui blossomed from a broken, shut down
cat into a handsome, confident boy at the Kitten
Rescue Sanctuary where he was adored
by staff and volunteers. He slept and snuggled
with his toy, Percy the Platypus, every day.
With all his challenges, we expected Maui
to live out his life at the Sanctuary. Then we
received an email from someone who had
been following Maui’s story on Instagram and
wanted to meet him. The potential adopter had
asthma herself and felt a connection to Maui.
Upon meeting Maui, they fell in love and she
adopted him. Over the holidays we received
this update from Maui’s adopter:
“He is a super happy boy and has been
loving life. He is very popular on my Zoom
work calls and he pops in to say hello. If he
does not appear, people ask after him. His
asthma is well under control and he is so good
about using his inhaler. He knows when it’s
time and actually hops up on to the table by
himself when I say ‘let’s take your medicine.’
He is seriously a dream.”
Kitten Rescue believes that there is a home
out there for every cat. Sometimes it takes a
while to find that special adopter, but when
it happens it is magic. P.S. Maui still sleeps
with Percy the Platypus!
When you adopt a “pet without a partner”,
you will forever make a difference in their life
and they are sure to make a difference in
yours. •
