Eligible Inglewood Unified and Centinela Valley Union high school students can qualify for guaranteed admission to California State University, Dominguez Hills and El Camino College by taking advantage of college enrichment opportunities under a three-year pilot program developed by local educators and the South Bay Workforce Investment Board. The South Bay Promise initiative is designed to strengthen the college-going culture among students at Inglewood Unified and Centinela Valley Union High School District, ensuring their college readiness and creating a seamless transition from high school to college. In the process, the program would boost the numbers of Inglewood Unified and Centinela Valley students who are admitted to, and graduate from El Camino College and CSU Dominguez Hills. To help these students prepare for their post-secondary education, the SBWIB will provide after-school enrichment and workbased learning activities on high school campuses. Additionally, the program aims to create efficiencies and provide guidance for qualifying El Camino students to transition to CSU Dominguez Hills, strengthening the relationship between the two institutions and increasing student transfer rates. •
