False Statements are Not OK
Steve McCroskey’s letter last week stated
my Father, Ron Swanson, “stands to make a
great deal of money by providing services to
the construction of Top Golf.” As Operations
Manager of our business, S&S Hardware,
Co, Inc., which is a commercial door, frame,
and hardware supplier, specializing in projects
such as schools and hospitals, has no
financial ties to this project. For those that
know my Father, the wellbeing of this city is
one of his top priorities. He has spent years
assisting with anything he can to help our
city prosper. Our business has been here for
over 30 years. We actively participate in city
events and service organizations that benefit
the community. My father and our family
want to see the city prosper. The only gain
to us is the same for all of us, which is of
its use, that it will finally be a financial asset
to the city and not a drain and if you
own property in town it will surely rise in
value given the 40-million-dollar renovation
of the site. If you would like to debate this
further, you are welcome to a face-to-face
conversation with us – we are in the book.
If you would like to continue to post false
information about us and our business in
a newspaper or on social media, you may
do so, but our reputation in the community
is important to us and we take such false
statements seriously.
– Troy Swanson
From the Editor
Last week I received and published a
letter signed “Steve McCroskey”. After
being published, a search was conducted
and “Steve McCroskey” cannot be found
as an El Segundo resident. He is found
as Lloyd Bridges’ character in “Airplane”.
Please don’t give any credibility to someone
that would write a letter, yet use a false
name, in an effort to discredit the efforts
of anyone with a different opinion. Happy
Thanksgiving everyone.

Petition to Allow a Vote
I have to wonder why Ron Swanson keeps
taking out expensive, full page ads in favor of
Top Golf? How much will he benefit if Top
Golf “wins”? The petition going around does
not put a stop to Top Golf. This petition is to
put it on the next election ballot, to allow every
registered voter who is a resident of El Segundo
to vote on whether they are for or against Top
Golf. Yet some people, even non-residents, want
to tell you what to do or not do. They seem to
want you to not have a vote. Does that sound
fair? Does it sound like American values? I
don’t think so. This land was donated to the
whole town, not only to the City Council or
Planning Commission members. This is important
enough that everyone eligible to vote
should be allowed to do so. Please sign the
petition so every eligible El Segundo resident
has a chance to vote: Yes or No!

Honesty is the Best Way
I sure hope not any members of our community
– whether El Segundo citizens or
anyone else – are putting out misleading
information in this paper about the Top Golf
plans in order to make money off the city.
That would be dishonest, grossly inappropriate
and looked into if in fact it is happening.
Honesty is the best way.
