Eagles Fall in Football Opener
By Gregg McMullin
The 2019 El Segundo High School football
schedule kicked off at Peninsula with a disappointing

two-year starter Matt Romero graduated. Villa
led the Eagles to two first quarter scores to

Dream Team Wins Again
The El Segundo G10U Dream team
emerged victorious again after playing in
the Ventura County Fusion Tournament. The
locals defeated Real Socal FC West Valley
8-0 and Bakersfield Legacy 7-0 before losing
to AYSO United Santa Clarita 2-0 to go
2-1 and qualify for the championship game
against Santa Clarita with a chance to win
it all and avenge the prior defeat.
In the final, the Dream Team was down
2-0 at the half. Five minutes into the second
half, Brooke Immel scored the first goal to
get the rally started. The Dream Team kept
possession of most of the second half in attack
mode when Audrey Camarillo scored the
tying goal with just minutes left in the game.
The match ended in a tie and went to penalties
where the Dream Team defeated United
SC 5-4 (final score 7-6). In the photo, back
