“Hola! Mi nombre es Estella. Oops, sorry
about that. I meant to say my name is Estella.
I forgot that I’m no longer in Tijuana and that
I’m now residing in Southern California. You
see, another rescue group scooped me up off
the streets of Tijuana and turned me over to
the MSFR volunteers. Naming me wasn’t a
problem because I had my name when I arrived.
However, determining my breed is another story.
I have a long body, Schnauzer coloring and
Schnauzer fur – that means I’m a non-shedder.
Best guess, without a DNA test, is that I’m
a Schnauzer/Lhasa/Cocker mix. I’ve had a
pretty exciting life for a 1.5-year-old gal, but
I’m ready to settle down and find my forever
family. I’m super friendly and full of energy,
so one of my favorite pastimes is playing with
other dogs. I have a beautiful, shiny coat and
-- in keeping with the Schnauzer traits -- the
most expressive dark eyes and an adorable
face. I’m 20 pounds of love and affection just
waiting to give it to the right family.”
If you’re interested in Estella, please email

“Hi there, my name is Robyn and no I’m
not a bird. I’m actually a 4-year-old, female
Schnauzer/Terrier mix. What started out as
an afternoon adventure to get away from the
pups ended up with me residing at an LA
area shelter. Since I was a stray, they put me
up for adoption. Even though I had several
interested parties, no one ever showed up to
take me home with them. That is, until the
MSFR folks rescued me and are now helping
me find a forever home. After I had an appointment
with their vet, I’m happy to report that
my days of having litters and being a mom
are behind me. I’m really quite cute with my
docked tail and cropped ears. Being a mere
17 pounds makes me easy to transport. I’ll
be your constant companion! I have a great
personality and overall I’m a pretty happy gal
with a big smile. I get along great with other
dogs and I’m super friendly with people, but
you really need to see for yourself what a great

Congratulations to Sushi and her new family!
Huge congratulations to Sushi and his
new family. Sushi is our senior sweetie with
a heart condition that we rescued in late
January. His new mom met him at our pet
adoptions and he really turned on the charm.
He made such an impression that they scheduled
a meet and greet with his new dad and
that sealed the deal! Sushi’s folks are previous
MSFR adopters and are no strangers to
special needs dogs. In 2010 they adopted a
tiny female who has IBD -- and three years
later, she’s still doing just fine. Besides
Maggie, Sushi joins a Lhasa sister named
Dolly who is 14 and blind. Since Mom and
Dad are empty nesters, with Dad also being
retired, there’s going to be lots of time and
attention for everyone. When Sushi arrived
at his new home in Torrance, he showed his
gratitude to his new parents by showering
them with kisses while ignoring his doggie
sisters! That was a good thing because the
ladies accepted him immediately. He felt
comfortable enough to just make himself right
at home and everyone is looking forward to
lots of happy times. Wishing them a very
happy life together… •

addition I would be to your family.”

“They call me Chloe, but maybe Lonely
would have been a better name when I lived
with my previous owners who dumped me at
an LA County shelter. Their reason for abandoning
me was that I kept leaving! Hello, I’m
only 2.5 years old and it’s boring and lonely
being left alone in the yard all day. Who can
blame me for looking for adventures and trying
to make friends? Since I spent most of
my time alone, I’m a bit skittish for a female
Miniature Schnauzer. But with a little time, I
do warm up to adults and then… look out! I
will be your shadow. Even though I do fine
with adults, I’m really not comfortable with
small children. So I think I’d prefer a home
without youngsters. After a few days with my
foster family, I started to come out of my shell.
Lo and behold, I found that I really love playing
with my foster siblings and squeaky toys!
Who knew? So if you’re looking for a tiny,
9-pound sweetie to make your life complete,
I’d love to be your ‘Velcro’ dog.”

If you see a dog with a YELLOW RIBBON
or something yellow on the leash, this is a
dog who needs some space. Please do
not approach this dog with your dog. Please
maintain distance or give this dog and his/her
person time to move out of your way.
There are many reasons why
a dog may need space:
HEALTH ISSUES
IN TRAINING
BEING REHABILITATED
SCARED OR REACTIVE AROUND OTHER DOGS
Those of us who own these dogs
appreciate your help and respect!
