children or dogs. The girls have sensitive
stomachs and require a special diet.
Blue is one of the last Giving Tuesday
rescues from our Clear the Shelter Day.
When we got Blue, her shelter notes indicated
she was feral, and everything about
her behavior confirmed that. Then, over the
weeks, something wonderful happened. Blue
started to respond to human contact, began
purring and vocalizing, and became a love
bug! She loves pets, cuddles, burrowing under
the covers, and much, much human attention!
Blue was not feral at all, just scared. This
young beauty can go to a home with cats
(or dogs), but can also be adopted as a solo
cat. Loving humans, it turns out, is her jam!
These cats and kittens are available for
adoption through Kitten Rescue, one of the
largest cat rescue groups in Southern California.
All our kitties are spayed/neutered,
microchipped, tested for FeLV and FIV,
dewormed and current on their vaccinations.
Temporarily, adoption events are suspended.
For additional information and to see these
or our other kittens and cats, please check
our website www.kittenrescue.org or email

With our city and state shut down, we are
faced with the delicate balance to protect our
fellow humans from the spread of COVID-19,
while continuing our mission of saving the
most vulnerable victims of the homeless cat
crisis. We know that these are challenging
times for everyone. If you can give a little,
it will go a long way. They are still counting
on us during these difficult times. Your taxdeductible
donations for the rescue and care
of our cats and kittens can be made through
our website or by sending a check payable
to Kitten Rescue, 914 Westwood Blvd. #583,

Saving one animal won’t change the

Purrrfect Companions
Every second of every minute of every day,
a helpless animal is put to death just because
no one was there to take them home. Give
them a second chance for love when you
adopt one of these precious kitties.
Hansel is a gentle, handsome Maine Coon
mix boy. He is quietly playful yet loves a
good slow wrestle with his favorite feline
buddy Billy the Kit. These two boys are quite
the pair, and we would love for them to stay
together. However, we will consider Hansel
going to a home with a playful cat looking
for a friend. Hansel is somewhat shy until
he gets to know you. That is why another
cat will help him acclimate. Hansel is very
sweet, enjoys being brushed, and will give
you his tummy to rub.
Billy the Kit is such a character! We call
him the class president here at the Adoption
Center. He is always the most popular among
the kitties who he mentors to help them feel
comfortable. Billy is also great at helping
around the office. He will retrieve your freshly
printed paper in a sort of readable state. But
Billy is so cute when he runs to the printer
and paws at the paper coming out. Billy is a
great cat, and he loves Hansel like a brother!
The two of them are often seen lying face to
face and taking turns bopping each other on
the head. We would love to see them adopted
together, but we could also see Billy being
comfortable with your resident playful cat.
Billy the Kit needs to have another kitty in
his forever home.
Dot is a friendly, easy-going kitty. She gets
along with cats, people, and her ideal home
would have a cat-friendly dog or two, as she
is especially fond of small dogs. Dot enjoys
playing with the feather on a stick toy and
she is a Temptations treat junkie! An outgoing
kitty, Dot likes to chat with you about her
thoughts on things and would love to be in
a home that she can call her own.
Libby was dumped in a carrier at one of
our adoption venues. When she first arrived,
she had an abundance of fortitude, and we
were not sure how socialized to people she
was. It turns out that all Libby needed was
time to decompress; she is now happy to
accept pets and attention. Libby is a beautiful
cat looking for her forever home. She is
tolerant of other cats and has even been seen
napping with a few of her friends. We think
that Libby will have a longer adjustment
arc in a new home, so she will need to be
adopted into a patient, quiet home.
Shiegra and Nook Nook are two sisters
named after magical creatures from a Christmas
story by L. Frank Baum (OZ). Shiegra
is a lioness, brave, beautiful, and attentive.
Nook Nook is a sweet, silly sprite that is
playful, mischievous, and mysterious like
all fairy folk. Shiegra is the more confident
of the two sisters. She’ll jump all over you,
preparing for a sneak attack on Nook Nook
or an unsuspecting ping pong ball. She
loves to cuddle and will purr loudly to let
you know. Shiegra loves pets, kisses, and
scratches with her head and tail held high!
Her favorite toys are the cheap and easy
ones—scrunched up pieces of paper, corks,
bottle caps, and anything that skitters and
skids when she whacks it. Nook Nook is a
goofy little girl with a funny grumpy face
and a misleading mustache.
She is a little timid, but once in your arms,
she is quick to purr and will melt in happy
snuggles if you promise to keep her safe.
These sisters are very well balanced and
take their playtime seriously. They horseplay
like gladiators and snuggle like angels. They
can only be adopted as a pair and will not
be separated. They are great with other cats,
but not a good match for homes with young

Happy Tails
Julian has found his home and we are
overjoyed! When we rescued Julian from the
shelter he was hissing and swatting in his
cage. Sadly, he had been assessed as undersocialized
by the shelter staff. We placed
him in a foster home with one of our best
socializers, Janice. Janice gave him a small
space at first, so he would feel safe. She
talked to him, offered him food and treats and
slowly gained his trust until Julian allowed
her to pet him.
Janice discovered that Julian was an emotional
boy who did not like other cats. Once
she knew what type of home Julian needed,
she set out to find the right home for him.
When Julian’s new dad contacted her, she
told him what to expect for the first few days
and how to gain Julian’s trust. Julian’s new

dad listened to her advice, and now Julian
is enjoying his best life.
Many people are willing to foster kittens,
but we are in short supply of foster parents
for timid or emotional cats. The truth is that
these are the cats that need us the most. They
do not do well in a shelter environment and
very few people understand them. We can attest
that there is nothing more rewarding than
gaining the trust of a cat like Julian, watching
them blossom, then finding them their human.
If you can find room in your home and your
heart to foster cats with emotional needs, please
