his ears and chin and will lean into your hand.
He is simply a beautiful cat that needs love
and understanding. If you’re willing to take
the time and patience to go the extra mile for
him, it will be a wonderful experience when
Puffball rewards you with his trust and love.
Bronson is a handsome white and creamsicle
big ball of energy! This darling guy has always
been extremely confident, friendly, sweet and
cuddly. He loves to be in your face– giving as
much love as he can give. Bronson, his little
brother, and all the other kittens get along
wonderfully. He is also very sweet to the
smallest kitten we have, grooming him and
showing him how to be a big boy! At night
he will come to cuddle right next to you and
give you a few kisses (or more). Bronson and
his brother were found in Sylmar colony that
Purrrfect Companions
Waiting for adoption are cats and kittens of
every age, color, and personality. When you
adopt, you save a life… and in turn enrich
your own.
Blossom is a super sweet, affectionate,
social and energetic kitten. She loves to play
and does not like to be alone. She can be adopted
with her sisters, Princess or Munchkin,
or to a home with another young cat to play
with. Blossom gives a lot of love and purrs to
her human. This lovely kitten will bring joy
to your holidays and for years to come as a
part of your family.
Sabrina is a beautiful orange tabby with
white markings on her face, neck and feet.
She is gentle, sweet and affectionate, but is
a bit timid with both people and other cats.
If she feels safe, loved, and secure, Sabrina
will blossom and show her sweet nature and
personality. Sabrina would best in a quiet
adult household as an only cat with a loving
person to dote on her. Or she may do well in
a household with another gentle cat.
Puffball has been through a lot in his life.
We’re not sure exactly what happened to him,
but he was abandoned and then dumped in a
high kill shelter — simply discarded, waiting
to die. This young, beautiful fellow was
literally rescued an hour before he was to be
euthanized. He came to us very thin with a
bad cold. With the help of his loving foster
and veterinary care, Puffball is now healthy.
Puffball is alert with an inquisitive nature.
Although he is a bit tentative with humans, he
has come a long way. Puffball does allow pets
and especially loves to be scratched around
was thought to have been already closed. The
feeder of the colony contacted someone who
contacted us, and we have had them ever since
they were three weeks old. Special consideration
will go to adopters requesting a pair (or
more!) of these special kittens.
These cats and kittens are available for adoption
through Kitten Rescue, one of the largest
cat rescue groups in Southern California. All
our kitties are spayed/neutered, microchipped,
tested for FeLV and FIV, dewormed and
current on their vaccinations. For additional
information and to see these or our other kittens
and cats, please check our website www.

Saving one animal won’t change the world,
but the world will surely change for that
animal. •

Cinquième—D’Houma à Dulac à Boothville
Venice:
If you’ve ever eaten wild-caught Gulf shrimp
in America and hail from anywhere but the
Texas or Louisiana coasts, those shrimp were
frozen. Kinda defeats the purpose of the extravagance,
don’t you think? So we finished
our jaunt by wandering down the Great River
Road in Plaquemines Parish all the way to the
very tippy-tip (another travel obsession) of
Louisiana in the quiet shrimping settlement
of Boothville-Venice.
Landscape photographers prize the Magic
Hours just after sunrise and just before sunset,
when the diagonal flood of the sun’s rays can turn
the drabbest view into a French Impressionist
masterpiece. But they can’t begin to describe a
Louisiana sunrise over the Gulf of Mexico, with
the estuarial shrimpers heading out for the day.
En Fin:
For all of its wonderful quirks and eccentricities,
Louisiana is not a foreign country. Its children
have endured some of the worst hardships of
the New World, both man-made and natural,
and have produced some of our most precious
cultural treasures. They just do it with a style
that proves that grace and dignity can still
matter in the headlong rush of the modern
age. And nowhere is this more genuine than
deep in the Bayou, where life eddies along
at its stateliest, most naturally elegant pace.
A sure-fire cure for high blood pressure and
a welcome respite before heading out to the
craziness of the Big Easy and beyond.
