The City of Inglewood Celebrated Halloween
this Year with a Successful Drive Thru Event
Although COVID-19 limited what could be done on Halloween this year, our Parks and Recreation team put together a fantastic Drive Thru Halloween event this year that offered a great experience for families throughout the community. Special thanks to @TheTrutheYBL
for donating candy for our grab bags and to the incredibly talented Jaimy Johnson for designing this year’s installations and putting together a great show for the community. Photo courtesy City of Inglewood.

News for the City of Good
Neighbors from an Old Guy
named Norb Huber
What Can I Say?
As I grapple with what to tap
into my Mac mini, our nation is
waiting. We are waiting for the
final results. We don’t know who
will be our leader for the next four
years. So, what can or should I
say? Once a week, my rambling, babbling
writing goal is to bring some humor, some
honesty, some humility to counter the heated
hostility that we feel in our great nation in
this time and place. After the dust is cleared
and every court ruling has been rendered, we
must go back to working together. Some of
us will be depressed, upset, and/or bewildered.
How could our guy lose? Some of us will
be happy, ecstatic, and relieved that our guy
won. Do we hold grudges? Do we rub it
in our opponent’s face? When living in a
democracy, it only takes one vote more than
the other side to win. There are winners and
losers. Does the most qualified person or side
always win? Back in the day, I won two City
Clerk elections in Hawthorne and I may not
have been the most qualified candidate, but
I convinced enough voters to vote for me.
Many elections simply become popularity
contests. Politics divides people. It’s a
power grab. People like to have power. Once
elected, a no nothing candidate all of sudden
becomes a genius who knows everything
about nothing. Yes, we need good leaders
to make decisions and run our government.
But in order for a community, a city, or a
neighborhood to work, we need
neighbors to respect one another
and abide by the laws of the land.
The “New Norb”!
All this serious crap about elections
and politics is really boring.
I want to get back to my stupid
normal self. If being serious
is the “new norb”, forget it, I’ll
quit. It’s time to tell everyone
to just chill out and have a cold one. It’s
time to tell everyone that God loves them
regardless if they win or lose. It’s time to
relax and party hardy. Wear a mask, wash
your stinking’ hands, stay seventy two inches
away from me, but have fun, enjoy life, smile
more, laugh until it hurts, blast “We are the
Champions” or “YMCA” on your bluetooth
speakers, get up and dance. Rejoice in the
Lord always, again I say rejoice. No election,
no lockdown, no pandemic, no riot, no
wildfire, no nothing can keep us from having
a good time and being happy. All we need
to know is that the God who made heaven
and earth is the one who really cares for
us. He doesn’t make empty promises. He
doesn’t lie to get elected. Once we know
who loves us, we can relax and have a cold
one because we know everything is going to
be okay. Let’s move on folks, let’s make it
a “new norb” to live life happy. The only
question that you need to ask yourself, “Am
I happier now than I was four minutes ago
before I read this junk?” If you can say yes,
then I’ve met my goal. Be happy my loyal
readers, be happy!
