Amending Chapters 10.36 (Stopping, Standing,
and Parking), Section 190 (Use of Streets for
Parking and/or Storage of certain Large Vehicles,

Prohibited) of Title 10 (Vehicles and Traffic) to
the Hawthorne Municipal Code.
Pursuant to Government Code section 36933(c),
the following constitutes a summary of Ordinance
No. 2187 which was considered for adoption
by the City Council at its regular meeting on
September 10, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. Pursuant to
California Government Code section 36933(c)
(1), the City Council has directed the preparation
and publication of a summary of Ordinance
Nos. 2187 which seeks to regulate the parking
of oversized vehicles, including recreational
vehicles, in terms of time limits during which the
parking of oversized vehicles will be allowed,
applications and fees for permits, extensions of
time to park oversized vehicles, and locations
in which the vehicles may be parked.
Ordinance 2187 is an amendment to the
Hawthorne Municipal Code (HMC) which
address the use of streets for parking and/
or storage of certain large vehicles, including
recreational vehicles and house car. Generally,
the parking of these vehicles in residential districts
on public streets will be prohibited unless an
Oversized Parking Permit is obtained at the
Hawthorne Police Department. Ordinance
No. 2187 also allows the City Traffic Engineer
to issue permits for disabled persons to obtain
an Oversized Vehicle parking permit under
delineated circumstances.

Ordinance Nos. 2189 which seeks to update
the duties and responsibilities of the Youth
Commission.
The purpose of the Youth Commission was
to coordinate and direct the resources of the
city to abate to the extent possible graffiti and
gangs. Ordinance 2190 is an amendment to
the Hawthorne Municipal Code (HMC) which
updates the purpose of the Youth Commission
to coordinate and direct the resources of the city
in conjunction with the 4 pillars: 1) education;
2) community service; 3) civic engagement;
and 4) leadership.
The City Council finds and determines that
there is no possibility that the adoption of this
Ordinance will have a significant effect on the
environment. Accordingly, this Ordinance is not
subject to the requirements of the California
Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) pursuant to
Sections 15061(b)(3) and 15378 of Division 6
of Title 14 of the California Code of Regulations
A certified copy of the entirety of the text of Ordinance
No. 2190 is available both on the City’s
website and also in the office of the City Clerk,
4455 West 126th Street, Hawthorne, California,
and is open for public inspection. Pursuant
to Government Code section 36933(c), the
summary Ordinance No. 2190 was published
at least five (5) days before the ordinance is
to be considered for adoption on September
24, 2019, a duly convened regular meeting of
the Hawthorne City Council.
