Courtney Rohrer’s Dream of Working
with Dinosaurs Becomes a Reality
Throughout her nine-year career with the U.S. Air Force, ECC biology major Courtney Rohrer never forgot her childhood dream of working with dinosaurs. She came to El Camino in 2018 to make that dream a reality. Today, Rohrer studies paleo biology and plans to transfer
to University of Southern California to continue her studies as a qualitative biology major, which merges her interests in paleontology and her background in programming. Photo courtesy El Camino College.

turkey and turned off our electronics? Can we
be informed citizens and not be bombarded
with political fighting while watching the
local or national news? Yes, I believe there
is a way to escape. It gets down to the
choices we make. What radio and TV stations
do we listen to? What Internet sites do we
open up? How much time do we spend on
social media? Choices we make determine
what we hear, see and digest. How much
of it is edifying? How much of what goes
into our brains is good for us? If watching
a horror movie before bed is not a good
idea, then listening to troubling news cannot
really be that good either. I have said
this many times here in this blumbery blumble
of a blog, true contentment and joy only
comes from knowing who we are. God has
created us in His image and gave us work to
do. He doesn’t want us to be weighed down
with all of the concerns of the world. God
wants us to be happy, and we can be happy
because He loves us. If we have clothes on
our back and food in our belly, we can be
content in any situation we find ourselves
in. Choose happiness my friends. I wish to
think that I have 31 or 32 “happy” loyal
readers. I hope my simple, sometimes stupid
words, brings a positive message, a smile, a
worthwhile read, and a little bit of happiness
to anyone that spends the five minutes reading
my stuff. Why not read positive stuff?
Why not have a cold one? Why not relax?
Why not turn off the faucet that controls
the constant stream running through your
brain? Breath deep, smell the roses, love
your spouse, enjoy the summer sunshine,
read a good book, smile at a stranger, you
just might realize that you can be happy and
you will be happier for it.
