The mixer will be hosted by South Bay Ford and held at 5100 Rosecrans Ave in Hawthorne. Fee for members is $10 and nonmembers is $13. South Bay Workforce Investment Board Convenes Regional Stakeholders When Toyota’s North American sales headquarters departed from the South Bay region last year to Plano Texas, it prompted the South Bay Workforce Investment Board to convene workforce and economic development stakeholders in the region to develop strategies that will retain businesses in the region and support economic growth through new business attraction. The SBWIB convened a strategy session with elected officials and both chamber and city economic development executives from the South Bay cities including Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach, El Segundo, Carson, Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lomita and Torrance. The event was facilitated by the co-founders of Business U, a national consulting firm that specializes in workforce development, education, and economic development to help organizations be more effective individually and collectively resulting in economic growth. The SBWIB is planning a second event with Business U that will include an invitation to all of the South Bay elected officials to build on the momentum. LAX Launches Informational Website LAX is beginning the second phase of construction and in an attempt to keep travelers informed, has launched a site called LAXIsHappening.com. In addition to featuring real-time LAX vehicle traffic conditions and pedestrian walking maps, the site has been refreshed with a breaking news section and new travel and traffic tips. Information on specific terminal-by-terminal impacts and improvements will soon be added. The site also includes a live stream of the airport’s @FlyLAXAirport Twitter feed, and links to project fact sheets and other easy-to-access updates.
