Katherine Margot Rooney
Katherine Margot Rooney of
El Segundo, California passed
away peacefully on October
20th. Margot was born in New
Rochelle, NY on May 7th 1951
to the late Katherine (Kay) and
John (Jack) Sheeran. She was
predeceased by her beloved husband
Robert Mark Rooney and
is survived by her adored sons,
Joseph “Jay” and Patrick of El
Segundo. She is also survived
by her brother Jack Sheeran of Yarmouthport,
Ma. and sisters Noel Drower of Doylestown,
Pa. and Patty De Marco of Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ.,
along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews and
godchildren. Margot received the support of
many friends over the past few years, and
the family is forever grateful.
Margot grew up in Bronxville and New
City, NY, before moving to California when
she married her best friend since 5th grade.
Margot attended Clarkstown High School
and St. Thomas Aquinas College. She also
attended Adelphi University, where she
received her Paralegal Degree. She was a

very proud of her son’s athletic
accomplishments.
In her retirement years she split
her time between California and

YES on Propositions 20 and
22, and NO on the Other
The California Attorney General wrote deceptive
ballot measure titles and summaries
to mislead voters. Please read the detailed
information, and vote “Yes” on Propositions
20 and 22, and “No” on the others. Prop 15
repeals the Proposition 13 property tax limits
and protections for commercial properties. It will
kill many businesses and jobs, in addition to
the damage done by the government economic
shutdown in response to the pandemic. Also,
customers pay business taxes passed on to them
in prices. Prop 15 is part 1 of a 2-part divideand
conquer strategy to repeal Proposition 13
for everyone and go back to taxing homeowners
out of their homes. The government unions
backing Prop 15 will have a second proposition
in a future election to repeal Proposition 13
for homeowners, and the businesses will not
spend money to campaign against it. Prop 16
is racist and sexist. It repeals 1996 Proposition
209, which prohibited discrimination for or
against any person or group based on race,
ethnicity, or sex in government employment,
education, and contracting decisions. Prop 16
will require tax increases to pay the higher
cost of hiring people and contractors based
on skin color and sex rather than qualifications.
It will unfairly label qualified minority
and female people as unqualified. Prop 18
allows 17-year-olds to vote to increase taxes
they don’t pay. Prop 19 repeals Proposition
13 protections for parent-child home transfers.
Prop 21 is a counter-productive Marxist “rent
control” law.
– Mike Robbins
Vote “No” on All Ballot
Measures Except 20 and 22
Propositions 14 , 15, and 19 are huge tax
increases. Proposition 15 is the biggest property
tax increase in California history. It will repeal
Proposition 13 for commercial properties, tax

Your Neighborhood Therapist
Dear Neighborhood Therapist:
I’m struggling with roles as a partner, a
parent, a teacher, a friend and a citizen. I
can’t seem to find the balance. It feels like
one week I get it right, then the next I try
too hard in one and ignore the others and
get in trouble with the people I care about.
One day I feel fine, then the next I feel lost,
and worried, like I’m the only one going
through this. Am I?
– It’s Tough Out There, El Segundo
Dear It’s Tough Out There,
You are not at all the only one. We ask
ourselves: when will it end, if at all? Will
I stay healthy? How long do we have to
live this way? Is there permanent damage
being done to my child, my relationship,
my family, my community? We are in the
most divisive election in our lifetimes, with
real differences that feel closer, and more
consequential than in the past.
You’re right: it is tough out there.
Well, at least you get to work from home,
right? Well, sure… but now your office is
at your home, always accessible, always
whispering “come do some work” or “you
should be more productive” or “you have no
excuse not to be at that meeting.”
At least your child can roll out of bed and
straight to class, right? Well, sure… if they
like being at school all the time, because
school is at home. If they like interacting
with others through a screen, and doing
physical education by themselves. It’s even
harder if they are in kindergarten, or sixth
grade, or ninth grade, or otherwise starting
