Not the former city that is now part of Oakland, but me! My name is Brooklyn and I’m in Southern California looking for my forever family. I’m an adorable one-year old female ‘Schnoodle’ (Miniature Schnauzer/ Poodle mix) who is just a tiny eight-pound bundle of love. I was trying to acclimate myself to the new neighborhood when I became lost and ended up at an LA county shelter as a stray. While I was on my own, I picked up these nasty things called foxtails and they became embedded in my ears. They drove me crazy and in the end I actually had to have surgery to remove one of those stinkers. I guess you could say that I’m just a happy, friendly little gal who is still very puppyish--so I’d advise you to watch your shoes and computer cables! I’ve been told that I’m cute as a button with my natural tail, my ‘schnauzery’ coloring and my ‘poodle’ fur. Plus, my personality is just as endearing. I love people, dogs, cuddling and playing. Could I be the perfect gal for your family?” If you’re interested in Brooklyn, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “The name Hobbes is of Old English origin and means ‘bright flame.’ I’m not sure if the name suits me, but it’s definitely as unique as I am. I’m a two-year old male purebred Miniature Schnauzer who made a run for it on the Fourth of July with three of my friends, also Miniature Schnauzers. A few days later we were picked up by animal control and taken to an LA county shelter. I think our appearance made it obvious we were strays since we all were a filthy, matted mess. Another rescue group took two members of our pack, but my gal pal Harlow and I were rescued by MSFR. Harlow has found her forever home, so now it’s my turn. I had an underdeveloped eye that resulted in a deformity. In order to avoid any issues, the veterinarian recommended removing it. I’ve had the surgery, am all healed and now that my fur has grown in you really can’t tell the difference. I just look like I’m winking at you! Initially, I was pretty skittish and scared because I hadn’t really been socialized, especially with people, at my previous residence. It didn’t take long for me to realize I was living the good life and now I’m a friendly, little guy that loves attention. I’m only 12 pounds, so I’m easily transportable--and with my natural ears and tail, I’m quite the looker. Uh, speaking of my tail, it’s actually three-quarters of tail since part of it was caught in something and has broken off. The slight kink in it just adds to my 12 pounds of charm. If you have a dog, not to worry because I will need to go to a home with a doggie pal to show me the ropes.” If you’re interested in Hobbes, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “Hi! My name is Stanford and I’m a stunning four-year old male purebred Miniature Schnauzer that is full of surprises. When I arrived at an LA county shelter after being brought in as a stray, they were pretty certain I was injured because I was very fearful and couldn’t be handled. Surprise #1: After being thoroughly examined by the MSFR veterinarian, he found that there wasn’t anything wrong! I was just terrified and really stressed out by the noise, commotion and loneliness of the shelter. That and the fact I was a bit of a dirty mess didn’t help in getting me adopted. Once I was rescued and had a day or two to decompress, my loving affectionate side emerged and now everyone thinks I’m a real sweetie. Surprise #2: Because of my initial appearance, no one had a clue that I was quite the looker. Actually, my luxurious coat was so long and heavy that I appeared to have flat ears. Once I was groomed, what a difference! My coat is now lush, shiny and…wait for it…Surprise #3: I have the most awesome bat ears! Even though at 25 pounds I’m a bit on the large size for a Miniature Schnauzer, I’m a really great guy who gets along well with other dogs. I’d be the perfect addition to your family and can guarantee I’ll be lots of fun.” If you’re interested in Stanford, please email info@msfr.org for more information. •
