Benny Pessia
56 year resident of El Segundo,
Benny Pessia passed away on April
18th at the age of 93. Following his
retirement from Boeing in 1985,
Benny lived a full life of traveling
and volunteering as an R.S.V.P for
the El Segundo Police Department,
along side his wife of 60 years,
Martha Pessia, who preceded him
in death in June of 2010.
He spent 3 years in the United
States Marine Corps. in World War II. He
walked the devastation in Nagasaki, Japan
after the war, which could have contributed to
his many bouts with cancer in his later years.
The son of Italian immigrants, Benny and
his family made El Segundo their home from
1962, moving eastward from his birthplace in
Bradford, Pennsylvania. He wanted a better
life for his family and chose a small town in
southern California, much like his
beloved Bradford.
He leaves behind to carry on
his legacy and precious memory
three children, two grandchildren
and one great granddaughter,
respectively; Ron Pessia of Hayward,
California; Nancy English
of El Segundo; Perry Pessia of
Tigard, Oregon; Sean English of
Kapaa, Kaua’i; Andrea English
of El Segundo; and Mahina Jade English of
Kapaa, Kaua’i.
Along with his family and many friends
and distant relatives, we pray for his peace
and comfort as he is in the loving arms of our
Lord eternally. There will be no formal service
for Benny, however, friends and family will
be contacted for a local intimate gathering in
the near future.
