EL SEGUNDO HERALD May 5, 2016 Page 15 Wowser Schnauzers Reese Swanee weighs 11 pounds. Second step, I’m going to find a forever home with a family who will love a tiny, easy going, cute as bug guy with the sweetest face ever. I even get along splendidly with other dogs. I know if you meet me, you won’t be able to resist me. If you are interested in Percy, please email info@msfr.org for more information. My friends call me Swanee and I am just one of three little old men who were rescued from a LA county shelter last week. I’m Happy Tails Drew joins a fun filled family with 2014 alumni Comet (aka Mandy). Hello, I’m a 3-year old, female purebred Miniature Schnauzer named Reese. One night when I was out looking for adventure I injured my paw and fractured two teeth – bad idea. Next thing I knew I was captured and taken to a shelter and assigned a bed in their medical building. It was only a soft tissue injury that healed quickly but now I need a home. No one was interested when I was at the shelter but then I definitely was not a pretty sight. I was really a stinky, matted mess with a goofy smile so it’s no surprise that no one wanted to adopt me. After being rescued I had a dental and my damaged teeth – one was an upper canine – were removed. Then it was off to the groomer where I was bathed and shaved down a bit. I am happy to say I am now 16 pounds of beauty in the form of a black and silver girl with a natural, plume of a tail. I get along great with dogs and love people so please come to adoptions and ask for Reese. If you are interested in Reese, please email info@msfr.org for more information. They call me Percy but when I arrived at the shelter as a stray, they could have named me Mystery Man. First of all I was nothing but a ball of matted fur and no one could figure out who or what I was. Ah hah – I did have tags mystery solved, but no – the phone numbers weren’t for my owner. Oh what’s a dog to do? First step was to get groomed and what did they find? If you are looking for a dog that is sweet as can be, adorable and gets along great with other dogs then I’m the dog for you. My name is Teresa and I’m a 5-year old, female purebred Miniature Schnauzer. My 4-month-old daughter and I put on our pink sweaters and thought we’d go for a walk. The next thing we knew we were at a LA county shelter being called strays. At first we thought our owners would look for us but that was not to be. My daughter got adopted, however, I was left behind and now I’m looking for my forever home. I’m quite a cutie with my natural ears and docked tail and at 16 pounds I’m easily transportable. I’m still small enough to sit on your lap and the perfect size for cuddling. If you are interested in Teresa, please email info@ msfr.org for more information. Percy probably a tad older than 10 years of age and like all folks who are seniors I have a few physical issues. I had some cataracts, which left me blind in one eye, I’m missing a few teeth and I have a heart murmur. That said I’m also a super sweet, well-mannered, gentle, little Spaniel mix. You can’t really tell by my picture because they shaved me but I have gorgeous, fluffy golden fur. If you just check out my tail in the picture you can see for yourself how fluffy it is. Although I get along with other dogs, my favorite past time is just being held and hanging out with my family. My perfect home would be with an older person who would appreciate a calm and sweet companion. I would also be a great addition to a family with a little extra room in their hearts and home for a needy soul.   If interested in Swanee email southbaydoggie@hotmail.com. • Congratulations to Drew, now named Franklin, and his new family. Drew is the Miniature Schnauzer rescued mid-March and he joins MSFR 2014 alumni Comet (aka Mandy) and another sibling, an 11-year old Miniature Schnauzer. It was love at first sight and when all of the dogs got along everyone knew it truly was meant to be. Wishing everyone loads of happiness and lots of great adventures. • City Council from page 12 “ensure we are successful as a city.” Brann looked at the new Council as a “chance for a fresh start”—stating that “we’re all in together” and emphasizing the need to “seek a balance that’s in everyone’s best interest.” Mentioning a home burglary that occurred during a power outage on Monday, Brann said rising crime is a disturbing trend that “needs to be turned around in the other direction.” Also on Tuesday, the Council proclaimed Friday, May 13 as the date for the El Segundo Ed Gala. The event will take place at Chevron Park for the fifth year, with festivities running from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Local resident Loretta Frye received a certificate of commendation for her 23 years of service as a dedicated AARP Volunteer Tax Preparer for seniors at the El Segundo Joslyn Center. The Council also recognized each of the poll workers and night workers for “valuable services rendered” during the April 12 election. And finally, El Segundo Chamber CEO/ President Marsha Hansen, on behalf of the Rotary Club, reminded citizens about this Saturday’s Hometown Fair at Library Park and the chance to adopt a “wild rubber ducky” as part of the “El Segundo is Quacking Up” theme. Proceeds from donations will go to C.A.S.E. and participants are eligible for the grand prize ($1,000 gift card from Amazon), among other items. • Like Us on Facebook
