My friends call me Swanee and I am just one of three little old men who were rescued from a LA county shelter last week. I’m Happy Tails Drew joins a fun filled family with 2014 alumni Comet (aka Mandy). Hello, I’m a 3-year old, female purebred Miniature Schnauzer named Reese. One night when I was out looking for adventure I injured my paw and fractured two teeth – bad idea. Next thing I knew I was captured and taken to a shelter and assigned a bed in their medical building. It was only a soft tissue injury that healed quickly but now I need a home. No one was interested when I was at the shelter but then I definitely was not a pretty sight. I was really a stinky, matted mess with a goofy smile so it’s no surprise that no one wanted to adopt me. After being rescued I had a dental and my damaged teeth – one was an upper canine – were removed. Then it was off to the groomer where I was bathed and shaved down a bit. I am happy to say I am now 16 pounds of beauty in the form of a black and silver girl with a natural, plume of a tail. They call me Percy but when I arrived at the shelter as a stray, they could have named me Mystery Man. First of all I was nothing but a ball of matted fur and no one could figure out who or what I was. Ah hah – I did have tags mystery solved, but no – the phone numbers weren’t for my owner. Oh what’s a dog to do? First step was to get groomed and what did they find? My daughter got adopted, however, I was left behind and now I’m looking for my forever home. I’m quite a cutie with my natural ears and docked tail and at 16 pounds I’m easily transportable. Percy probably a tad older than 10 years of age and like all folks who are seniors I have a few physical issues. I had some cataracts, which left me blind in one eye, I’m missing a few teeth and I have a heart murmur. That said I’m also a super sweet, well-mannered, gentle, little Spaniel mix. You can’t really tell by my picture because they shaved me but I have gorgeous, fluffy golden fur. If you just check out my tail in the picture you can see for yourself how fluffy it is. Although I get along with other dogs, my favorite past time is just being held and hanging out with my family. My perfect home would be with an older person who would appreciate a calm and sweet companion. I would also be a great addition to a family with a little extra room in their hearts and home for a needy soul. And finally, El Segundo Chamber CEO/ President Marsha Hansen, on behalf of the Rotary Club, reminded citizens about this Saturday’s Hometown Fair at Library Park and the chance to adopt a “wild rubber ducky” as part of the “El Segundo is Quacking Up” theme.
