Mary Lou Petrie
Mary Lou Petrie, 93, passed
into the presence of her Lord on
March 25, 2020 in El Segundo,
California, surrounded by her
loving family.
The former Mary Lou Neuman
was born Feb. 9, 1927 and
grew up during the depression
on a farm in Lost Lake, Wisconsin
with 10 siblings. She met
the love of her life Landon
E. Petrie during World War II
and they were married on Oct.
6, 1945. They built their own
home on forty acres of Landon’s
parents family farm in Lake
Geneva, Wisconsin and raised
six children there.
In retirement, they split time
between their homes in Lake
Geneva and El Segundo. They
spent November to April biking
on the beach, having lunch at
the Blue Butterfly or Martha’s
and enjoying family holidays
and birthdays with their El
Segundo family member’s;
Christine and Victor Gallardo
and their children, Jost, Victor-
Venzor, Channing and Sophia
Rose, as well as Catherine &
Keith Yurica and their children
Alexandria, Jordan and Austin.
They attended Journey of Faith
Church in Manhattan Beach
and made wonderful friends
there. Landon passed away Oct.
3rd, 2014 after 69 years of a
wonderful marriage. Mary Lou
enjoyed her springs watching
her gardens grow in Lake
Geneva, the summers having
family and friends visit and the
beautiful fall colors. She was
known for sharing her faith in
the Lord, as well as her love,
wisdom and guidance to all who
knew her. •
