EL SEGUNDO HERALD March 23, 2017 Page 19 Wowser Schnauzers Cooper Luna Congratulations Cleopatra! Happy Tails in Cooper, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “Hi, I’m Luna, which means moon in Latin. One night when there was a full moon, I was having trouble sleeping so I went for a walk. Alone at night is how a six-year old, female, purebred Miniature Schnauzer ends up an Inland Empire shelter. When I arrived at the shelter I was feeling pretty rough--but after a quick examination, the shelter couldn’t determine what was wrong with me. I was immediately put on their medical list and scheduled to be euthanized. I truly believe Rumor We are looking for volunteers to help with our pet adoption fairs, which are held every Saturday at the Petco located at 537 N. Pacific Coast Highway Redondo Beach from noon-3: 30 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering and can commit to at least one Saturday a month, please contact us at info@msfr.org. You can also visit all of our Miniature Schnauzers & Friends rescues at the adoption fair or check out our website, www.msfr.org. If you have any questions about a particular dog’s availability, you can email us at info@msfr.org. Schnauzers! Bet you can’t adopt just one! “They call me Cooper and I’m just a bit of a guy--only 12 pounds--so you might say I’m a “mini” Cooper. Actually, I am a three-year old, male Miniature (there’s that “mini” again) Schnauzer/Poodle mix. Some folks would call me a Schnoodle--kind of cute, huh? Well, I was rescued from an LA county shelter where I ended up after becoming lost while on a walk. Apparently, if I had to guess based on my appearance, I had been walking for a long time because I was quite the mess. No could even determine what kind of dog I was until I was shaved and all of the mats were removed. Then they discovered what an awesome guy I am. I had my dental and now it’s a toss-up whether it’s the gleaming smile or my handsome little face that wins folks over. I’m very good-natured and I love to play…so if I’m what you’ve been looking for, let’s do a meet and greet at the MSFR adoptions.” If you’re interested the “moon goddess” was looking out for me because I was ill and getting worse when the MSFR folks heard about me and came to my rescue. Their veterinarian did some blood work, a dental and when spaying me discovered a serious condition. I had pyometra, a nasty infection of the uterus, that when left untreated can be fatal. A few days of rest, some IVs, a little TLC and I was ready to go home knowing I won’t ever have to worry about a reoccurrence of that problem.I’m fully recovered and feeling so much better, even minus the eight teeth that had to be extracted. It was a bit of rough go, but you would never know it by looking at me now. I’m not very big--only 17 pounds- -with a beautiful black, velvety coat and silvery moonbeam-like markings. I’ve got a very sweet face with the most expressive eyes, natural ears and a gorgeous plume of a tail.” If you’re interested in Luna, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “My name is Rumor and I’m a two-year old, female, purebred Miniature Schnauzer who’s looking for her forever home. Fact is I was rescued from an LA county shelter as a stray after being on my own for quite a while. Rumor has it that I was such a stinky mess that the shelter couldn’t tell my pedigree. They actually identified me as a terrier, which was their best guess at the time. Imagine everyone’s surprise once I was groomed and “ta-da…” an adorable little Schnauzer emerged! Who knew? Once I had my makeover, it was also discovered that I am only 16 pounds--which was a huge surprise because I looked much heavier. I have a great personality and I get along great with other dogs. I’m very playful, which helps keep me in shape, and I’d love to have a family of my very own.” If you’re interested in Rumor, please email info@msfr. org for more information. Congratulations to Cleopatra and her new family! They were looking for a sweet, little, low-key lap dog to add to their family and she was the perfect match. It was love at first sight and she’s now living in Redondo Beach--just a quick walk from where we hold our adoption fair. Cleopatra joins a family with a stay-at-home mom, twin seven-year old boys and an 11-year old special needs boy who, in his own words, said, “I just love her.” What a happy ending for a wonderful family! • Be kind.
