Page 2 January 31, 2019 EL SEGUNDO HERALD Ester Kirk Troxel Ester Kirk Troxel was born on April 15, 1929 in Marshall, Oklahoma. She passed away peacefully in her home on December 30, 2018. Ester was raised in Neosho, Missouri by her parents, Thomas and May Kirk. Ester was the youngest of four siblings, and made lifelong friends during her elementary and high school years. After graduating she and her family moved to Arizona, where she attended and graduated from Arizona State University. In 1950 she met and married her husband, Jimmy Troxel. They raised four children and in 1965 moved their family to California. She was an elementary school teacher for thirty five years with Inglewood Unified School District. Ester met and remained friends with colleagues from both Warren Lane and Oak Street Schools. After retirement she took road trips and cruises. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, whale watching, and spending time with friends and family. Ester was a resident of El Segundo, California for 30 years, and a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. During the last few years prior to her passing, Ester looked forward to weekly visits from special, faithful “cronies”. She will be greatly missed by those who loved her. Ester was preceded in death by her husband Jim, sons Bryan and Larry, and grandsons Tyler and Brian. Ester is survived by her three daughters, Scheri (Hector) DuBon, Linda (Mike) Walsh, and Leslie Stevens, her grandchildren Lauren, Jamie (Paul), Alex, Caitlin, Karen, Max, and Jena, and her two great-grandsons Noah and Charlie. Services will be held Saturday, February 2nd at 1:00 pm., at Bixby Knolls Christian Church in Long Beach. We invite anyone who wishes to celebrate and remember Ester’s life, and thank you for your thoughts and prayers. • Obituaries Calendar of Events Deadline for Calendar items is the prior Thursday by noon.
