Page 2 January 15, 2015 EL SEGUNDO HERALD Orbin G. Self, Jr. Born in El Segundo at home on Eucalyptus Street in 1927, Orbin G. Self, Jr. (86) passed away in Santa Fe, NM on Monday, September 22, 2014. Orbie grew up in El Segundo when the town was young. Left high school early to join the navy at the end of WWII; he was stationed in occupied Japan. Upon returning home he went to work at Douglas Aircraft as a fabricator. In 1951 he married his wife of 63 years Oralia Sandoval. They raised their 3 children while living in El Segundo until 1982 when they retired to Catalina, AZ. Eventually moving to Santa Fe to be near their grandchildren, Orbie loved to camp, fish, garden and build things with his hands. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. He leaves behind his wife Oralia (Lala), his daughters Olivia Reissig and Oralynn (Tammie) Guerrerortiz and her husband Patricio, his son, Gil, having pre-deceased him in 2004, grandchildren, Max & Kensy Reissig, Matthew & Hobie Self, and Diego & Gabriela Guerrerortiz, Tatyana Guerrero- Pezzano (husband Ernesto Ibarra) & Nadya Guerrero-Pezzano, and great grandchildren Liam & Lucas Ibarra-Guerrero, and his faithful dog, Joey. For questions please call (310) 524-2357 Murphy-Michael E., beloved h u s b a n d , fa t h e r, p a p a , uncle, and friend to all that he encountered, passed away peacefully January 10, 2015. Mike was born December 22, 1944 in Oklahoma City, OK. Mike has been a resident of El Segundo for over 40 years. He was the son of the late Ralph and Irene Murphy. Mike proudly served in the Navy as an SSE5 Yeoman on the USS MG. Vallejo from 1965-1971. For 33 years Mike was a vital member of the I.A.T.S.E. Local 33.  Mike will always be remembered for being the hardest worker and the easiest person to talk to. Later in his life, Mike and Hilary took up the hobby of motorcycle riding and loved to spend the day riding up and down the coast. He loved traveling with his family and walking his dogs, Roscoe and Woody. Most of all, more than anything in the world, he loved being with his family. Everyone who knew Mike was charmed by his amazing sense of humor and his ability to tell a great story. He was always a friendly face to all he encountered and was always willing to offer his support to any friend or family member. And let’s not forget what a jokester he could be! We will all miss him beyond words. Surviving are: his wife, Hilary A. Murphy; son and daughterin law, Brian and Jenny Murphy; daughter and son-in-law, Erin and Ian Wilson; daughter, Shannon Murphy; five cherished grandchildren, Broden, Landon, and Joaquin Murphy, Brooklyn and Camden Wilson.  Memorial gifts in Mike’s memory can be made to Wounded Warriors and ASPCA.  A memorial mass will be held 10am, at St. Anthonys Catholic Church, 720 E. Grand Avenue, El Segundo, CA. Please join the family in the celebration of life after the service at The Women’s Club, 541 Standard St. El Segundo, CA 90245. • Birth Announcement Emry Belle Hann Emry Belle Henn was born to Mike and Erin Sanchez Henn on Sept. 23, 2014. Little Emry joins her big sister, Evie, at their home in Wiseburn. Grandparents are Ed and Alyce Henn and Jamie Sanchez and Meg Sanchez.•
