Page 10 August 2, 2012 TORRANCE TRIBUNE Torrance Advances In Regional Baseball Tournament Torrance, the top seed in the 2012 Pacific Southwest Regional Babe Ruth (13-15 year old) Baseball Tournament, started out with a bang. The first game was against the Northern Utah champion, Riverton, and the young boys in maroon chalked up a 5-run third inning enroute to a 10-run mercy rule victory. A beautiful double by David Aros led off the fifth, and a standup triple by Devin Nakagawa scored Aros to end the game. Their second game was not so easy against the Central California champion, Orcutt. Although taking a 1-0 and 2-1 lead, the Orcutt boys rallied twice to tie and force extra innings. It was only the power of Ray Diaz blasting a walk-off home run that ended it 3-2 and sent the team to the finals. Photos by Shelley Kemp.
