Christi Edelbrock, Founder of the Edelbrock Family Foundation served as hostess and The Japan Business Association President Masumi Muroi welcomes guests to the 15th annual grand mixer with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce. Torrance’s 24Hr HomeCare raised a total of $4,616 with its “Movember” team and matched $2400 – a total $7016 toward the awareness of men’s health issues, such as prostate cancer. The men of 24Hr HomeCare participated in growing mustaches, and the women made and wore imitation mustaches. Grand Opening of South Bay Pain Docs The South Bay Pain Docs celebrated a grand opening ribbon cutting in front of their Torrance office, located at 2557-A Pacific Coast Highway. WTR’s FTC robot that helped them advance to the Regional Championship held on Feb. 15. WTR board member Anusha Ranganath. The West Torrance Robotics (WTR) team at West High School won the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award at the recently completed FIRST San Diego Regional Qualifier Tournament held at Horizon Christian Academy in San Diego. In addition to the Innovate Award, West Torrance Robotics came in 2nd place for the coveted Inspire Award, runner up for the robot competition and was nominated for the Design Award. The Inspire Award is given to teams who act as an inspiration to other teams, acting with Gracious Professionalism™ both on and off the playing field and are able to communicate their experiences, enthusiasm and knowledge to other teams, sponsors and the local community. With their standout performance in San Diego, the West Torrance Robotics team will represent West High and compete in the San Diego Regional Championships on Feb. 15.
