TORRANCE TRIBUNE December 18, 2014 Page 11 Wowser Schnauzers Miracle is ready for a new life and a new home after a medical scare. rescued me they took me to a specialist and the vet said the hernia was caused by a trauma. He said that he could do the surgery but it would be risky, however, without the surgery I would have died.  It was pretty scary because there was no guarantee that I would make it through the operation but I didn’t have many options. I had the surgery on 11/24/2014 and I’m happy to say that I’m perfectly healthy and the vet says I can now lead a normal life.  Hence, the name Miracle! Morty is a shy boy who needs a quiet household. Congratulations to Flanagan at his new home. Happy Tails Congratulations to our special guy Flanagan. He is now living with his new Mom and Dad, an 8-year old “mini” sister and a 10-year old cat. We weren’t sure how he was going to do with the cat but they get along great! He waited a very long time for the right family to come along but it was worth it and we’re thrilled that everyone is so happy! • We are looking for volunteers to help with our pet adoption fairs which are held every Saturday at the Petco located at 537 N. Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach 90277, from noon-3:30 p.m.. If you are interested in volunteering and can commit to at least one Saturday a month, please contact us at info@msfr.org. If you have any questions about a particular dog’s availability you can email us at info@msfr.org. Schnauzers! Bet you can’t adopt just one! After reading my story, you’ll know why I’m called Miracle because it is truly who I am.  I’m also a 2-year old female Miniature Schnauzer/ShihTzu mix who was rescued from a LA county shelter where I was considered a stray. Someone was supposed to adopt me but when I was about to be spayed the shelter discovered that I had a major medical problem and my adopter backed out.  I was diagnosed with a “diaphragmatic hernia” which means that I had tear in my diaphragm and my small intestine had moved into my chest cavity.  As a result my heart had moved over into a teeny tiny space.  After MSFR Winnie is a well-behaved girl who needs a good home. Earl is a 60-lb Catahoula leopard dog who loves to play. I’m so thankful to be here because it didn’t look very promising in the beginning. I’ve been through a lot for a tiny, 9.5 pound, gal but knowing that there’s a special family out there who will love and appreciate my spirit helped me make it.  I’m a real sweetie and I get along great with everyone and will make a wonderful addition to your family.  If you are interested in Miracle, please email info@ msfr.org for more information.    Hi, I’m Morty and I’m a 3-year old Schnauzer/Maltese mix. I’m a cute little thing who looks like a tiny, 11 pound, white Schnauzer with a natural tail and big dark eyes. I was dumped by my previous over the 4th of July weekend at a high kill city shelter. Since I‘m kind of shy, I found that place overwhelming so I tried to maintain a low profile. That’s probably why I didn’t get adopted but I’m out of my shell and ready to play a good game of fetch, which is my favorite pastime. I’m not very good with children – they play too rough and I’m just a bit of a guy. I’m looking for the best Christmas present of all – my forever family. Could it be you? If you are interested in Morty, please email info@msfr.org for more information. My name is Winnie and I am the perfect little lady for you. I’m a quiet, sweet, female Miniature Schnauzer who gets along great with other dogs and LOVES people. I’m just a tiny gal, weighing only 10 pounds, and at 8-years of age there won’t be any growth spurts! After I was rescued from a LA county shelter I was examined by a Vet and had a dental done. Twelve teeth had to be extracted but I am a healthy, happy and loving gal. I know it’s the season of giving and all I want for Christmas is to find my forever family and give them love, loyalty and companionship. I’ve been waiting so long to find you, won’t you please open your heart to me, you won’t regret it. If you are interested in Winnie, please email info@ msfr.org for more information. If you’ve never seen a male, Catahoula Leopard Dog mix pup you must come and see me. My name is Earl and I’m one year old. I weigh about 60 pounds and I’m quite a handsome guy. I was rescued from a crowded LA County shelter where I came in as a stray. Like most large breed puppies, I am pounds of play, curiosity, energy and affection ... plus a few ounces of common sense! I am very intelligent and have lots of potential. I am already cratetrained, virtually housebroken and I have no obnoxious habits (yet). I have begun a basic training program and am ideal for an adopter who welcomes the opportunity to shape a pup into an adult dog to be proud of. I am a determined youngster who figures out what I am supposed to do a lot quicker than I actually do it, so my adopter should be aware that obedience training is a must. That said large-breed puppy experience is a big plus. I am an excellent choice for an active family; like other working breeds Catahoulas are happiest when kept busy. If you are interested in Earl, please email emread@verizon.net for more information.
