A Juarez interception keyed another 32-yard drive by Costa that lead to a David Arredondo touchdown. The opposing quarterback wasn’t done there. He later ran for a TD three minutes into the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach for good. On a night that everyone expected to see Juarez using his feet to score, it was Arredondo that put the game away by the same method, giving his team a 35-14 lead with time ticking off the clock. “David was great with the run-pass combination in the second half again,” Morrow said of his quarterback who finished the night with 70 yards and three touchdowns on the ground. The opposing quarterback also threw for 210 yards on 16 of 24 passing. Juarez, on the other hand, finished with 180 yards and three touchdowns on the ground but was a dismal 8 of 32 passing for 45 yards and a pick. “It was a great experience,” Juarez said of his senior season at North High. “It gave colleges an opportunity to see what I can do with the ball in or out of my hands.” The ball is now officially out of North High’s hands as their season has come to an official end. Costa will move on to the semifinals to face their Bay League foe, Palos Verdes, who already beat the Mustangs once this season. The Saxons, on the other hand, will head into the offseason attempting to put together a plan to move on without Juarez, who will depart for college next season. Despite the loss, it was a great season for both Juarez and the Saxons. The offseason will bring with it many changes, but expect to see Todd Croce and his team back in the playoff hunt very soon.
