TUSD has gone down the same road as the Liberals in Sacramento with their Tax and Spend policies and I am willing to bet that Torrance residents will fall for the same bleeding heart liberal propaganda that was used in the last two bond measures. This now makes five (5) bond measures that residents will be on the hook for and does not include the El Camino bond measure. Remember, “It’s for the kids” or “It increases your property values”. Well, bull-lone-e to that. Let me give you the costs so far in millions: Measure R: 42.5; Measure Y:265; Measure Z: 90 and now Measure T 144.3 and Measure U: 50, and these bond measures do not include matching funds TUSD gets. It is bad enough that the City raises are utility rates yearly and now we have TUSD adding to our bills. Wake up Torrance and put a stop to this blank check mentality that TUSD has adopted. – Jim Cox Jr., Torrance Resident (27 years) Business Briefs Gerald Agnew Represents USA at World Masters Event Gerald Agnew, partner with Torrance-based serious personal injury law firm Agnew- Brusavich and resident of Torrance, won a silver and bronze medal at the World Masters Track Cycling Championship in Manchester, United Kingdom on October 4 - 11. Mr. Agnew represented the USA in celebrating 20 years of this international race. Mr. Agnew recently recovered from a broken neck and states, “Thanks to the help and support of my family and the local cycling community, I recovered and am back to racing with the top athletes across the globe.” Previously, Mr. Agnew received two national gold medals, a bronze medal and two stars and stripes jerseys in Washington at the USA Cycling Masters Track National Championships on August 19-24. Assisteens and PTN Host Halloween Party On October 19th the Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay Assisteens hosted its Annual Pediatric Therapy Network (PTN) Halloween Party at Wilson Park in Torrance.  Of all the events hosted by the Assisteens this is by far the most rewarding. Founded in 1996, PTN is a non-profit children’s therapy center dedicated to providing quality services for children with special needs offering physical, occupational, and speechlanguage therapies to over 1,230 children each week. This year’s event was attended by approximately 100 clients and as always it was difficult to tell who had more fun, the clients of PTN or the members of Assisteens. The park was filled with crafts, games and food, as well as a very special Magic Show by Magic Bob Weiss, which included many of PTN’s young clients.  The members of the Assistance League of San Pedro-South Bay Assisteens are already looking forward to next year’s event. • Magic Bob Weiss performs for the children at the Halloween Party in Wilson Park.
