The City of Torrance has been a part of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade with 59 floats. Since 1958 a Torrance float has made an appearance in the beginning-of-the-year international event. Facilitating the process of producing a float for the parade has been the Torrance Rose Float Association, which was founded in 1971 to sponsor the 1972 float. This nonprofit organization has remained committed to sponsoring the entry of a City of Torrance float for each parade tournament. In the past the city has funded the float but due to budget cuts and the lack of funds, the city has not committed to major funding for a float since 2012. In 2012 the float was mostly funded by Ace Clearwater Enterprise and through the many contributions made from TRFA and people throughout the City of Torrance.
