It’s too bad you wrote the article on a fact that was not true. Time and again Bill Maher stated he was not talking about the entire group of Moslens [sic] but a significant number. Note: 10 % is approximately 100,000,000. There must have been at least 3 or 4 times on the tape that Mr. Maher stated he was only talking about some and not all. AAUW Torrance Tech Trek Celebration and reported on their experiences at the weeklong summer science camps organized by California AAUW (American Association of University Women). The girls stayed in dorms at one of eight university campuses throughout California and learned about subjects as diverse as marine biology, criminalistics, computer science and robotics through hands-on experiments. AAUW Torrance branch was able to send the middle school girls to camp thanks to the generous sponsorship of local businesses and foundations, by generous individual donors, the Torrance Women’s Club, and through AAUW Torrance fundraisers. SKECHERS Pier-to-Pier Walk We’re just 10 days from kicking off our 6th annual SKECHERS Pier to Pier Friendship Walk in Manhattan Beach! So far we’ve raised $852,246.01 for children with special needs and we hope to surpass our $1 million goal by Sunday, October 26th. This year we’ve teamed up with Walk sponsor Steel Sports to launch the new #P2PSteelSports Selfie Challenge. Walkers will be encouraged to take a selfie photo at the event, upload to their Instagram, Facebook or Twitter account with the #P2PSteelSports hashtag, and for each photo posted Steel Sports will make an additional $5 donation towards the Walk. Waters Kicks Off United Small Business Alliance Congresswoman Maxine Waters (CA-43) joined with small business owners, community leaders and elected officials at the kickoff of the United Small Business Alliance, a newly-formed alliance of small businesses that work together to create, restore and maintain a healthy business environment.  The event was held from 6:00pm-9:00pm at the USBA’s new headquarters on West 237th Street in Torrance. Speakers included Waters, USBA cofounders Aurelio Mattucci and John Paul Tabakian,  USBA Officer John Goya, Torrance Mayor Patrick Furey, and a host of additional community leaders. Waters’ remarks focused on the importance of small businesses, and discussed her efforts to ensure they are top of mind for lawmakers in Washington, DC. Al Muratsuchi 2014 Legislator of The Year  The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers is pleased to name California Assemblymember Al Muratsuchi (D-Torrance) as its 2014 “California Legislator of the Year,” and recognizes his bipartisan leadership to promote clean vehicle technology, incentivize California consumers to choose alternative fuel vehicles, and support jobs in the automobile manufacturing industry. Assemblymember Muratsuchi introduced legislation that was signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown this year that focused on incentivizing alternative fuel vehicle ownership in California.
