TORRANCE TRIBUNE August 13, 2015 Page 7 TerriAnn from page 3 of them, they have kept the paperwork down to a small mountain for 15 years. I suppose what makes all of this even more remarkable is that Lisa and her husband Curt relocated back to their roots near Sacramento, but Lisa has no intention of letting go of her ‘baby.’ Lisa is still very much hands-on, with the Little Fish Theatre in San Pedro going year round, and always working on the summer schedule of Shakespeare by the Sea. She is here seven of the ten weeks of SBTS’s run and is in the South Bay one week every month tending to Little Fish. Yes, Lisa Coffi is dedicated to the experience that is now a tradition in our community. Free Shakespearian theatre in the park, under the stars, on a warm summer evening - what could be better than that? The growth has been nothing short of phenomenal. “It is a little project that got out of control,” confessed Lisa. This entire program is due to the dedication of Lisa Coffi and her staff, combined with efforts to secure corporate funding, along with the audience, who donates what they can at each performance. There are snack volunteers, flyer volunteers, and volunteers to hand out programs. Everyone is welcome to participate in the fun. Lisa told me, “There is nothing like the live experience. Television does not do that. Anything can go wrong and the actors simply have to work with it. If you’re bit by a June bug, the actors have to deal with it…” This summer’s production once again brings neighbors and friends together for special memories created while watching Shakespeare. So bring your picnic basket for Shakespeare by the Sea or in the Park. Take your pick. Well done, Lisa! This year’s offerings are As You Like It, directed by Patrick Vest, and The Tempest, directed by Stephanie Coltrin.
