TORRANCE TRIBUNE April 10, 2014 Page 15 “I was named Patricia because it was on St. Patrick’s Day that I arrived at an LA Country shelter as a stray. Before I was rescued I contracted pneumonia, but St. Patty was watching over me because I was treated by the MSFR vet and am fully recovered. I’m a four-year old lady who is a purebred Miniature Schnauzer. I weigh about 16 pounds, but I have to admit that I’m not looking my best right now. I was such a matted mess when I was rescued that most of my hair is on the groomer’s floor, but when it all grows back I’m going to be gorgeous! I’m not a wild child--actually pretty calm and well mannered--so I get along great with other dogs.” If you are interested in Patricia, please email info@msfr.org for more information. “My name is Bryan and I’m a handsome, one-year old, male Miniature Schnauzer mix. I could really use a break and am looking for a family that will open their hearts to me. I was rescued from an LA County shelter where I was taken after being hit by a car. I was pretty scared and in quite a bit of pain because I had a dislocated hip. I was taken to the MSFR Vet, who performed FHO (Femoral head ostectomy) surgery to repair my hip. The great news is that I’m expected to make a full recovery. I have a really great personality and get along well with other dogs, so I’m a perfect addition to any family. I’ve got lots of life to live and I would love to share it with you.” If you are interested in Bryan, please email info@ msfr.org for more information. “Hi, I’m Garth and I’ve had more than my share of neglect during my eight years. After my owner was arrested, I was taken to an LA County shelter where the MSFR folks found and rescued me. They took me in even though I was a pretty disgusting sight. I hadn’t been bathed or groomed in so long that I was a matted, filthy mess. First stop on my road to a new life was a trip to the vet where I had to have 21 teeth extracted because they were so rotten and the stench was terrible. Then I had to have a senior screen for bladder stone surgery. When the vet x-rayed me to check for stones, they discovered that I had been shot with a BB gun and had a BB lodged in my hip muscle. You can’t believe how much better I look and feel now that I’ve the proper care! I am going to have to be on Rx dog food to prevent reoccurring stones. Other than being a little overweight (21 pounds), I’m ready to start living life again. I’m a real people guy and I’m looking forward to making some new doggie pals. My one wish is to find a family that will appreciate my sweet disposition and adopt me. I know that not everyone is Lady loves to be held and snuggled. neglectful and I’m ready to give my new family all of my love and trust.” If you are interested in Garth, please email info@msfr. org for more information. “Hello. I’m Lady and that’s exactly what I am. I’m a two-year-old Terrier mix who is a petite 7.5 pounds. Some may call me timid, but I like to think of myself as reserved. I was rescued from the Devore shelter in San Bernardino several weeks ago and now spend my time with the lovely volunteers at Yellow Brick Road. I must admit that I have bloomed under their care and I love to be held and cuddled. I get along well with both the large and the small dogs at Yellow Brick Road. I’m not a barker, I walk well on a leash and ride well in a car. I would be a wonderful addition to any household, but especially for an older person who wants a loving little companion to hold on their lap. If you would like to meet me, I can be seen anytime at Yellow Brick Road Doggie Playcare in El Segundo. Call 310-606-5507.” • Wowzer Schnauzer Happy Tails Melody Finds a New Family Congratulations to Melody and her new family. She is our late February shelter rescue that had pyometra.
