Spelling Bee from front page Spelling Bee provides an opportunity for students from all types of backgrounds to participate in one of the largest academic tournaments in the country. “They have a lot of different activities for the spellers--it is a very incredible event that they put on,” said David. “They have a barbecue, educational tours of our nation’s capital, and an awards banquet with a formal dinner and entertainment.” Jennifer enjoys reading fiction for pleasure and considers nonfiction similar to living life, which in turn sparks her interest in history. In particular she enjoys colonial American history, which makes going to the nation’s capital that much more exciting. “It is where it all started. It’s where the United States came to be and I get to go back to its birthplace and capital where our founding father laid down the foundation,” said Jennifer.
