Woman’s Club (NWC) of Manhattan Beach introduced a new logo and a new website. The logo choice was the result of a contest the club conducted to which over 25 people submitted potential logo designs. The one chosen is by Elena Lacey. She is currently a designer for Southbay Magazine and before that worked for the Orange County Register. Elena is originally from Dallas but went to high school in Manhattan Beach then returned to Texas to attend Rice University in Houston. Some of her other work can be viewed at www. elenalacey.com. The judges who selected Lacey’s logo did so because it represents the quintessential buffet of the Neptunians. The overall image represents women; the waves indicate the South Bay location; the sea star image is part of the former logo; and the image is easy to replicate in various media forms. The new website was designed by a team of Neptunian Woman’s Club members (Margaret Alvarez, Linda Dondero, Suzanne Karger, Terri Premeaux, Kim Salzer and Nancy Vrankovic) lead by Laura Fischer. Laura is a NWC member with a business consulting and life coaching business. The team’s goal for the new website was to make it easy to read and informative. “We want people to understand what the Neptunian Woman’s Club does for the community and what it has to offer members, and we wanted to recognize the amazing sponsors who support us,” says Fischer. “After 106 years in the South Bay area, there are people who are unaware of our philanthropic efforts or that our clubhouse is available to rent.” The new Neptunian Woman’s Club website can be accessed by going to www.NeptunianWC.org. One element the website features is upcoming events of the Neptunians. Currently these include the Holiday Wrap, a bake sale at the Manhattan Beach Holiday Fireworks and the Chile Cook-Off. The Holiday Wrap will be conducted from December 7 to 24 at the Manhattan Beach Village Mall. “For a reasonable amount of money people can have their holiday packages decoratively wrapped at the Neptunian booth in the center of the mall. The money goes to scholarships for Mira Costa High School and El Camino College students,” points out Suzanne Sharer, Vice President of Fundraising. The bake sale takes place on December 13, the day of the annual fireworks, and helps support the Roundhouse Aquarium. The Chili Cook-Off on January 30 will be held at the Manhattan Beach Fire Department station to benefit the Manhattan Beach Firefighters Association’s Burn Foundation. The Neptunian Woman’s Club is the oldest civic organization in the South Bay. According to President Linda Merlo, “It has a deep-seated tradition of cultivating the passion of like-minded women to support and serve the changing needs of our local communities and to build a better place to live.” It is a nonprofit public benefit 501 (c) (3) corporation dedicated to volunteerism and the raising of funds in support of charitable, educational, cultural and civic services. • JOIN US ON SUNDAYS FOR THE NFL FOOTBALL EXTRAVAGANZA!
