Another Launch for SpaceX Congratulations to our friends over at SpaceX upon the successful launching of another Falcon rocket which hooked up with the international space station this week. Their aggressive launch schedule calls for this to be a regular occurrence in 2017 and 2018. With a large backlog of contracts signed to deliver payloads to outer space, Hawthorne’s SpaceX will be busy making the news on a regular basis. The next big moments will come when they reuse a rocket for the first time, send astronauts up to the space station and then on to Mars to help start to colonize the red plant. Hawthorne will be in the news for many years to come. Fat Tuesday and Ash Wednesday It’s that time of year again. Next Tuesday, February 28th is Mardi Gras time in New Orleans with quite a few cold ones being drunk and a lot of uninhibited behavior being indulged in right before the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent which is a solemn religious observance and ends approximately six weeks later right before Easter Sunday. The purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer through prayer, doing penance,  repentance of sins,  almsgiving,  atonement, and  selfdenial.   Repentance is a good thing. We all are sinners in need of forgiveness. God calls us to repent of our sinful ways. When we fast or give up things for the season of Lent this is meant to bring us closer to God. We reflect upon our lives and realize we would be lost without God’s forgiveness. No matter how bad we have been, no matter what sins we have committed, God is there to forgive us when we come with a repentant heart. So give up those big fat donuts, all that chocolate, or kick those addicting habits if that makes you reflect upon the life you have in Christ. Remember it’s not what we do for God that saves us. It’s what God has done for us in Christ that saves us. Be happy my friends, enjoy the life God has given us. Development Update The demolition of the old police state site will be concluding in the next couple of months.
