She had a large family. They were poor. She decorated their tree the best she could. While she slept, spiders climbed from branch to branch spinning and spreading their webs. Because the woman was so good, the Christ-child blessed the tree and turned the webs into shiny silver strands! This year’s world-famous Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center in New York City comes from Connecticut. It is a 76-foot tall, 47-foot wide, 12-ton Norway Spruce. The Rockefeller Center tree has been put up since 1931. The first tree was only 20 feet tall and decorated by workers with strings of cranberries, paper and even tin cans. Today the giant tree is decorated with 40,000 LED lights powered by solar panels that are on a nearby rooftop. www.readingclubfun.com Annimills LLC © 2013 V10-49 Newspaper Fun!
