Page 8 May 8, 2014 Gwen is losing her sight but still needs someone to watch over her. We are looking for volunteers to help with our Saturday pet adoption events which are held at the Petco located at 537 N. Pacific Coast Highway Redondo Beach 90277. If you are interested in volunteering and can commit to at least one Saturday a month, please contact us at info@msfr.org pretty fearful and not very trusting of people (can you blame me?). I’m not the least bit aggressive but I give strangers a wide berth. Like Victoria, I’m learning how to walk on a leash so I can take walks with my new family. Since I’m used to being around lots of dogs, I would love to have a doggie pal in my new home to join in the fun. I weigh about 18 pounds – just the perfect size to take anywhere my forever family goes. If you are interested Mandy, please email info@msfr. org for more information. For a 6-year old, female, purebred Miniature Schnauzer, I’ve really been shuffled around. Let me introduce myself, I’m Gwen and I’ve resided in at least two – maybe three – shelters in my lifetime. The most recent time when I was brought in as a stray, the LA county shelter contacted my owner. They decided they didn’t want me any more so I spent two weeks at the shelter before being rescued. The whole time I was in the shelter, I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t want me. I love people, have a great temperament, get along great with other dogs and I’m not very big – only 13 pounds. I do have impaired vision due to juvenile cataracts, which is very common in Miniature Schnauzers. The Vet even did a blood panel on me to make certain there were no underlying causes for my vision problems and all the results came back normal. I’m not totally blind, however, the odds are good that I could be in three or four years. If that happens it won’t limit my capacity to be the best companion ever because you don’t have to see to love. I’m looking for a lov i n g , responsible family to love me and give me a chance to show them what happiness is. If you are interested in Gwen, please email info@msfr. org f o r mor e information. Have you ever seen a beautiful, golden colored Long Time MSFR Adopters Open Their Hearts to a Fifth Dog with Special Needs Visit us online: www.heraldpublications.com My name is Victoria and I’m definitely feeling victorious these days. My friend, Mandy, and I were rescued from a terrible hoarding situation. We were certainly headed for a shelter when our owner surrendered us to MSFR. They had already rescued four other dogs from this hoarding situation so I’m very grateful they opened their hearts and took us in too. I’m an 18 pound, 3-year old, purebred, female, Miniature Schnauzer who’s very smart. I’m learning how to walk on a leash and I’m looking forward to taking long walks. I love people and get along so well with other dogs, that I’d love to find a forever home that already has a dog to play with. If you are interested Victoria, please email info@msfr.org for more information. I’m Mandy, a 1.5-year old, female, purebred Miniature Schnauzer. My gal pal, Victoria, and I were rescued from a hoarding situation - narrowly escaping a trip to a shelter. I have to admit that since I’m on my own, I’m Happy Tails Huge congratulations to Seth and his new family. Seth is our 10-year old blind mini that we rescued from the Downey shelter last October. Someone turned him in as a stray, but when he was microchip scanned the chip’s info led right back to the person who dumped him! Two months ago he had a toe removed that was malignant but a pathology report and X-rays determined it hadn’t spread. Seth also has a heart murmur and is on a stone prevention diet. His new parents are long time MSFR adopters. He is the fifth dog they have adopted from us and four of those five were older dogs with special needs. When they heard about Seth’s medical issues, they said he was meant for them no matter how much time he had left. Do people really have hearts that big?? Why, yes they do! When they met him they were over the moon in love. Seth joins a 2012 MSFR alumnus named Atticus. • Wowser Schnauzers Cayenne is a Lab & Jindo mix and would like to be a single dog with an owner who likes to play. Victoria is looking for love after her rescue. Mandy was also rescued from an abusive situation and needs lots of love. Seth is an older dog who now lives comfortably with his new family and sibling. Labrador/Jindo mix? If not, take a look at me! My name is Cayenne and I’m a 1-year old female who is crate trained, rides quietly in the car and is eager to please. I’ve never met a human that I didn’t fall in love with immediately. My energy requirements are not super-high but I’ll be a fantastic companion for someone with an active lifestyle who’s looking for a running companion. I’ll even stay right next to you as we run together. I know some obedience commands but I haven’t learned how to play with other dogs. That said it would be best if I were an only dog, at least for now. Once I become comfortable around other dogs, we may want to explore adopting a doggie pal for me. Cayenne can be seen anytime at Yellow Brick Road Doggie Playcare in El Segundo Call 310-606-5507. If you have any questions about a particular dog’s availability you can email us at info@ msfr.org. Please visit all of our Miniature Schnauzers & Friends rescues at the adoptions fair held every Saturday from noon-3:30 p.m. or check out our website, www.msfr.org. Our adoptions fairs take place at Petco, 537 N. Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach, California. Schnauzers! Bet you can’t adopt just one! •
