Page 2 April 16, 2015 Students Selected as Grades of Green Finalist Will Rogers Middle School in Lawndale was one of three local middle schools recently selected as finalist schools in Grades of Green’s Trash Free Lunch Challenge (TFLC). Oak Street Elementary in Inglewood was also one of three elementary schools selected as a finalist. The 25 competing schools spent the school year educating students about waste reduction and diverting as much lunchtime waste as possible -- and it’s paying off! In total, this year’s participating schools achieved a 77 percent average lunchtime waste diversion rate, which means about 320 tons of waste will be diverted from Southern California landfills thanks to the work of these dedicated students..
