Butts, approved a two-year agreement with Vital Medical Services to provide non-emergency, on-call services at the Inglewood Police Department jail facility. The contract was approved in the amount of $75,000 and with a one-year extension option. “In-custody prisoners occasionally require non-emergency medical treatment,” states the staff report signed by Inglewood Chief of Police Mark Fronterotta. “For this reason the Police Department must have an agreement with a medical facility to provide services when requested.” The agreement with Vital Medical Services was needed and approved in order to ensure that service times be reduced during nonemergency medical situations. Based on the staff report, non-emergency situations include but are not limited to: asthma, high blood pressure, diabetes, bruises/abrasions, simple fractures and even pregnancy. When a detainee is suffering from a more serious condition and is in need of urgent care the police department will refer to person to Centinela Hospital. “Currently, any prisoner that requires medical clearance must be taken to a medical facility for treatment,” states the staff report. “As a result, officers are placed out of service for an extended period of time while they await a doctor.” Based on the agreement Vital Medical Services will send a qualified medical professional when they receive a call for service. The professional will conduct a medical examination at the jail facility and determine if the patient is in a condition to receive medical clearance or in need of additional treatment. “It should be noted that the Department previously used their service under a short term agreement,” states the staff report. “In addition to providing above satisfactory service, a significant reduction in out of service time related to medical clearances was observed.” Council Approves Two-Year Agreement For Landscaping Services A two-year agreement, with the option to extend twice in two-year increments, was approved with BrightView Landscape Services in the amount of $300,000 to be paid for by the city’s general fund. BrightView Landscape Services, formerly Valley Crest Landscape Maintenance Inc., will provide complete landscaping and maintenance services such as edging, mowing, fertilizing, disease control, insect control, weed control, pruning, staking, debris cleanup and other services as needed and outlined in the contract. “The Park Maintenance Section is responsible for the maintenance of natural aesthetics of approximately 100 acres of parks and green areas located throughout the city,” states the staff report signed by City Manager Artie Fields. “In addition, this section services the underdeveloped park sites, Civic Center Complex, Grevillea Mall, Water Treatment Plant, City Service Center and 45 acres of parkways, street medians, traffic islands, service roads and parking lots.” With the help of BrightView Landscape Services, the Park Maintenance Section will be better able to assist in special events such as cultural celebrations by providing staff and logistical support, as well as cleaning and maintenance duties for restrooms, picnic areas and playgrounds. “The City’s crews will continue to handle Civic Center Complex, Grevillea Mall, Water Treatment Plant, City Service Center, and service roads, as well as assist in all cultural and special events, park facilities and equipment,” states the staff report. “BrightView will be contracted to provide maintenance services for the 19 median/parkway sites.” Those medians and parkways include: South La Cienega Boulevard between W.
