I didn’t do any real damage but apparently just a small nip will put you in extended solitary confinement and you’re deemed unadoptable to the public. Finally a volunteer took pity on me and realized how terrified I was and she decided to make friends. It took a lot of patience and even more chicken but she was able to convince that it was going to be okay. After my make over, compliments of Grooming Gives Hope Program, I felt so much better and I actually enjoyed being held and petted. I passed my temperament test, which meant that I was eligible for adoption, but it would have to be by a rescue group. The MSFR folks stepped in and it only took a day for me to realize that my foster family was okay too, so I started giving kisses and lots of love to them. Although I’m as sweet as can be, to be in compliance with the county waiver, I have to be placed in a home without children. Will you please give me a chance to prove that I’ve learned my lesson, paid my dues and I promise never to repeat my crime? Actually, I’m a 4-year-old Miniature Schnauzer/Poodle mix who was rescued from an L.A. county shelter medical ward. I was a pitiful mess with multiple pelvis fractures, and only available to a rescue organization. Like Martha Stewart I have a “record”, but I’m totally rehabilitated and now I’m just a petite, 15 pounds, 2-year-old female Miniature Schnauzer mix. I also have a natural tail and little white socks on all four of my tiny paws. My pal, Percy (adopted and renamed Moe) decided we should run away from home. We were tired of being neglected, matted, and unloved so we took off to find new homes. Little did we know that we’d end up at a L.A. county shelter which was a really scary place. Since we had tags, the shelter had to hold us but the phone numbers were invalid and no one was coming for us so I decided to make a break for it. Unfortunately, an animal control officer cornered me and I did what any scared gal would do, I nipped and made contact with Donald Pia Schnauzer in the same ward and decided to help me out. I can’t remember anything about how I sustained my injuries but I’ve had surgery, rehab and am back on my feet (all four of them). Now I’m looking for a family to share the rest of my life with. It should be a family without small children because I’m still a bit frail and I’m not very big. I’ve been told that I’m very sweet and have so much love to give. Hi there, my name is Donald and I’m a lovable, 17-pound, 5-year-old, male, purebred Miniature Schnauzer who has had a pretty eventful life. One night I was out for a stroll and the next thing I knew, I was in a L.A. county shelter. I was told that I ended up there after sustaining some nasty injuries when a car hit me. Since I was a stray and injured, I wasn’t going to be adopted so I was very lucky to be rescued by the MSFR folks. They took me to their Vet who took x-rays and found that that I had several fractures in my pelvis. The surgery, on Feb. 10, to repair my pelvis required a plate and six screws. My rehab, which included six weeks of aqua therapy sessions, has resulted in an awesome body and I now swim like Mark Spitz, or Michael Phelps, your choice. I have completely recovered from surgery and am now on a mission to find my forever home. My visit to the groomer has transformed me into quite a good-looking guy. My eyes and my natural tail are my best features but my sweet temperament is what will win you over. If you are interested in Donald, please email info@msfr.org for more information. Looking for a sweet little gal to be your best pal? I think I would definitely fit the bill. I’m Pia, a 2-year-old, female Corgi/ Chihuahua mix who’s a lively and playful girl. I was rescued from the Baldwin Park shelter where I spent a month in residence after being confiscated from my previous owner. When I meet new people I’m pretty relaxed and friendly so everyone thinks I was neglected and not abused at my former home. I’m pretty athletic and have lots of energy so I would do really well in a home with other dogs and/or an active family. I could benefit from some basic obedience training but I’m great on a leash. I’ve also learned my car riding manners, am crate trained and at 14 pounds, I’m easily transportable. Please let me share my life with you.
